Gramma's Chocolate Cookies

INGREDIENTS:

Cookie Batter

  • 1 Cup Brown Sugar

  • ½ Cup Butter

  • 1 Egg

  • ½ Cup Hershey’s Cocoa

  • 1 ½ Cups All-Purpose Flour

  • ½ Teaspoon Baking Soda

  • ½ Cup Milk

  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract

  • ½ Cup Walnuts, chopped

Icing

  • 1 Cup Powdered Sugar

  • 2 Tablespoons Hershey’s Cocoa

  • ½ Teaspoon Vanilla Extract

  • 2 Tablespoons Butter

  • Milk (as necessary to thin the icing)

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°.

  2. In a large bowl, combine brown sugar and butter; mix well.

  3. Beat egg and add to creamed mixture; mix well.

  4. Add Hershey’s cocoa and mix.

  5. In a separate bowl add flour and baking soda.

  6. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk to egg and cocoa mixture.

  7. Stir in vanilla and chopped nuts.

  8. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto a cookie sheet and bake for ten (10) to twelve (12) minutes.

  9. Remove to wire racks to cool.

  10. While cookies are baking, make icing by combining all ingredients.

  11. Thin with a little milk if necessary.

  12. When cookies have cooled, frost with chocolate icing.

YIELD:

  • Three (3) dozen
