Psalm 55:22

Thanks to David H.

--- you really need to read this

'Friends are God's way of taking care of us.'

This was written by a Metro Denver Hospice Physician:

I was driving home from a meeting this evening about 5, stuck in traffic on Colorado Blvd., and the car started to choke and splutter and die.

I barely managed to coast, cursing, into a gas station, glad only that I would not be blocking traffic and would have a somewhat warm spot to wait for the tow truck.

It wouldn't even turn over.

Before I could make the call, I saw a woman walking out of the quickie mart building,

and it looked like she had slipped on some ice and fallen into a gas pump,

so I got out to see if she was okay

It looked more like she had been overcome by sobs rather than having fallen;

she was a young woman who looked really haggard with dark circles under her eyes.

She dropped something as I helped her up, and I picked it up to give it to her.

It was a nickel.

At that moment, everything came into focus for me:

the crying woman,

the ancient Suburban crammed full of stuff with 3 kids in the back (1 in a car seat),

and the gas pump reading $4.95.

I asked her if she was okay and if she needed help,

and she just kept saying 'I don't want my kids to see me crying!,'

So we stood on the other side of the pump from her car.

She said she was driving to California and that things were very hard for her right now.

So I asked, 'And you were praying?'

That made her back away from me a little,

but I assured her I was not a crazy person and said,

'He heard you, and He sent me.'

I took out my card and swiped it through the card reader on the pump

so she could fill up her car completely, and while it was fueling,

walked to the next door McDonald's and bought 2 big bags of food,

some gift certificates for more, and a big cup of coffee.

She gave the food to the kids in the car, who attacked it like wolves,

and we stood by the pump eating fries and talking a little.

She told me her name, and that she lived in Kansas City .

Her boyfriend left 2 months ago and she had not been able to make ends meet.

She knew she wouldn't have money to pay rent Jan. 1, and finally,

in desperation, had called her parents, with whom she had not spoken in about 5 years.

They lived in California and said she could come live with them

and try to get on her feet there.

So she packed up everything she owned in the car.

She told the kids they were going to California for Christmas,

but not that they were going to live there.

I gave her my gloves, a little hug and said a quick prayer with her for safety on the road.

As I was walking over to my car, she said, 'So, are you like an angel or something?'

This definitely made me cry.

I said,

'Sweetie, at this time of year angels are really busy, so sometimes God uses regular people.'

It was so incredible to be a part of someone else's miracle.

And of course, you guessed it,

when I got in my car it started right away and got me home with no problem.

I'll put it in the shop tomorrow to check,

but I suspect the mechanic won't find anything wrong.

Sometimes the angels fly close enough to you that you can hear the flutter of their wings...

Psalms 55:22 ' Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee.

He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.'

A real "mountain man"

Thanks to Michael C.

I was walking the mountains in Gran Canaria when I came across a real "mountain man" living in a cave

...claims to be a relative of "Mr. Bean"!! more like Steptoe...

His name is Werner and comes from Switzerland

and has been living here for about 15 years

he gets beaten up regularly as its believed he has money

...he gets about 100 euros a month from an old pension scheme in Switzerland

and often comes to the city to beg

There is a small mountain range behind where I am staying

where there are many such caves or shelters where people have lived for many years

He has built a church on the top of the mountain which gets some local visitors

a cave where he used to live now inhabited by a Serbian refugee

loves his "Mr Bean" teddy bear

He carries water every day up the mountain slope and looks a tough old bird!

I wish you enough

Thanks to Ray M.

Recently I overheard a Father and daughter in their last moments together at the airport. They had announced the departure.

Standing near the security gate, they hugged and the Father said,

'I love you, and I wish you enough.'

The daughter replied,

'Dad, our life together has been more than enough.

Your love is all I ever needed.

I wish you enough, too, Dad.'

They kissed and the daughter left.

The Father walked over to the window where I was seated.

Standing there I could see he wanted and needed to cry.

I tried not to intrude on his privacy, but he welcomed me in by asking,

'Did you ever say good-bye to someone knowing it would be forever?'

'Yes, I have,' I replied.

'Forgive me for asking, but why is this a forever good-bye?'…

'I am old, and she lives so far away.

I have challenges ahead and the reality is

- the next trip back will be for my funeral,' he said.

'When you were saying good-bye, I heard you say,

'I wish you enough.'

May I ask what that means?'

He began to smile.

'That's a wish that has been handed down from other generations.

My parents used to say it to everyone...'

He paused a moment and looked up as if trying to remember it in detail,

and he smiled even more.

'When we said, 'I wish you enough,'

we were wanting the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them.'

Then turning toward me, he shared the following as if he were reciting it from memory.

I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright no matter how grey the day may appear.

I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun even more.

I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive and everlasting.

I wish you enough pain so that even the smallest of joys in life may appear bigger.

I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.

I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.

I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye.

He then began to cry and walked away.

They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them; but then an entire life to forget them.

* Only if you wish, send this to the people you will never forget and remember to send it back to the person who sent it to you. If you don't send it to anyone it may mean that you are in such a hurry that you have forgotten your friends…

TAKE TIME TO LIVE...

To all my friends and loved ones, I WISH YOU ENOUGH.
