Tsukemono Dragon
The photosynthetic and carnivorous tsukemono dragon are strange oddities of terrestrial mutation in the midst of the nuclear war. Some plants incorporated lizard DNA, and created viable hybrids. The strange nature of these creatures give them a unique form of camouflage, in which the unsuspecting actually harbored and transported these creatures unknowingly among their other food supplies. They are one of the few species that found its way on accident to Calydon. Scientists on Calydon for a time studied and further engineered the species though a number of experiments. With proper care and caution, some tsukemono dragon strains have actually become a benefit to the settlers on the station as a food source, while others are fiercely territorial and better left undisturbed. The creatures are typically found alone or in pairs, and in the wild are primarily found in the Gardens of Herodotus.
CRA Report 402: Tsukemono Dragons were first noticed primarily in East Asia a few weeks after the Collapse but have been reported by travelers across the globe. Their prevalence in Asia has led the CRA to conclude that particularly potent stores of fermenting cabbage left underground coupled with massive amounts of radiation have led to this terrifying phenomenon. Cabbages, under these extreme conditions, seem to undergo rapid mutagenesis, producing tremendously large lizards carrying the distinctive odor of tsukemono. The flesh of the tsukemono dragon is considered a delicacy. WARNING: Do not approach.
