Synthile is a type of fabric made up of polymerized molecules secreted by F. synthalis. Typically it is prepared by inducing autolysis and chemical crosslinking of a dense sheet of the engineered F. synthalis microorganism grown in a special bioreactor. Flat stretches of this material can be repaired by distributing fresh precursor organism across the damaged portions and repeating the crosslinking process.
It is also referred to some as khadi. It is manufactured by Quemists.
One example of practical synthile wear is the synthile tunic.
