Statuses effect the character and can be boons, banes, or a mixture of both. They are typically acquired through usages of items or skills, although some arise from environmental effects.
The statuses effecting the character appear as icons across the top of the screen with a timer beneath them indicating their remaining duration. By mousingover the status effect icons, the player can read a description of each one, and the source that caused it. Most statuses can be acquired multiple times. If they are from different sources, the effects stack.
A tab in the Cavelink shows a list of all the statuses effecting the character, which can be filtered by keyword, attribute, magnitude of effect, duration, and source.
Right clicking on a status effect icon brings up a popup window with more options, sometimes including the ability to dismiss a status effect (dismissable status effects have green border, non-dismissable status effects have red border), use skills that alter the status effect (such as Persistence or Make it Stop), or use items in your inventory or matrix that can alter the status effect (e.g. extend, enhance, shorten, negate). You can also alter your visibility of the status effect icons by either selecting [hide until this expires] or [always hide this status effect]. Even if the icon is hidden, it will still appear in your Cavelink Statuses Tab, where these options can be reversed.
