The Amarok are a species of gigantic wolf that habitate the Vast Deferens. Despite their carnivorous nature, they have never violently interfered with the affairs of the humans except in self-defense. Calydonian folklore includes some stories of an Amarok saving children from danger. This has earned them a mythic and respected status of respect rather than fear.
They are one of the top land predators on Calydon, and they prey upon most of the Vast Deferens herbivores, including Baku, Behemoth, Cerynitis, Megatherium, and Muesli.
