About

Ephemeral Respite is set in a period of a post-apocalyptic world on a post-revolution terraformed space station known as Calydon. It is based on a briocolage of other game, book, and movie inspirations. These are the times soon after Decentralization, and the things people do to continue living. There is a small dash of the mystic for extra intrigue.

The game will take the character from a semi-tribal setting into a world where a new mode of civilization is being rebuilt. The setting is steampunk/modern, so there will be everything from spears to lasers. The single player game is set in phases, where the player's characters progress through 'eras' which are the immediate decentralization (no new tech), to shamanistic (low magic), to early tool design (new low tech), advanced tools (new high tech), to revelation (high tech/high magic fusion).

Following the introduction that includes the collapse, the player will begin in the tribal setting, and after some plot development, will choose their path. Players will be able to focus on developing their characters as nomad adventurers in this world, or play a role in developing civilization from the ruins.

A late event in the game will be to stand ground against invasion in a "The Day the Earth Stood Still" scenario; an outside force that has come to Calydon.

The MMO Ephemeral Respite will be based in the Revelation Era.
