Dear Middle School Parents,
As part of our ongoing series about changes coming for the 2026/27 school year, this week we are excited to share a new addition to the middle school schedule: the Thursday morning club block.
Beginning next academic year, we will introduce a dedicated club block on Thursday mornings. During this protected time within the school day, every middle school student will have the opportunity to explore interests, learn new knowledge, and build community with peers across different grades.
We believe that learning is not confined to traditional academic subjects. Character, collaboration, and creativity are best developed when students have agency and choice. The Thursday morning club block provides exactly that: a regular, structured opportunity for students to pursue passions, try something new, and belong to a smaller community within our larger middle school. This initiative also supports our ongoing work in social-emotional learning, as clubs allow students to connect with peers who share their interests and learn from teachers outside their regular classroom.
In the coming weeks, students will complete their club selections via an online form. They will be asked to rank their preferences, and we will do our best to place every child in a club that aligns with their interests. Each club will run for one semester, ensuring that students get two unique experiences per academic year. A preliminary list of potential clubs includes robotics, debate, art, fitness, book club, and many more. Please note that this list may evolve based on student interest and teacher availability.
We look forward to sharing more details soon, including the final club list and the sign-up form link. Thank you for your partnership as we continue to shape a thoughtful and engaging 2026/27 school year for our middle school students.
With gratitude,
Christina Daniel
Dean of Student Life
