Dear ICS Community,
Vision 2050 - Parent Forums
I am writing today to give the details of the Parent Forums announced just over a fortnight ago. These will be held online on Monday April 13; the forum for KG parents will be from 7pm to 8pm, and for Shek Mun parents from 8:30pm to 9:30pm. Joining links and instructions will follow in due course. The purpose of the forums is to introduce you to Vision 2050, and to invite your input and support and we think prayerfully about the LORD’s purposes for the next generation of our school. I will explain the eight themes of this vision, which has been before the Board, faculty, support staff, and High School students. Parents are key stakeholders, of course, and we want you to consider and help shape our developing direction. The themes have already been refined following consultation, and here they are as they currently stand:
Make disciples Christian
Oaks of righteousness Classical
Serving the city Hong Kong service
Equipped for every good work STEM in the Greater Bay Area
For the nations English liberal arts curriculum
By workers approved Bible-believing faculty and staff
In a house built by wisdom Excellent facilities
As good and faithful servants Financial stewardship
There is a Bible verse for each theme, and the intention is to add SMART objectives in the form of milestones and KPIs to each one. ICS is a wonderful school; it belongs to the LORD Jesus Christ, and we are privileged to be called in our generation to pass it faithfully on to the next. I look forward to partnering in that with you, and to seeing you all online at the forums.
Blessings
Nick Seward
Head of Schools
In light of an accident that occurred this morning, we want to reiterate the safe driving procedure for exiting the school car park.
To reduce congestion and eliminate dangerous blind spots, we ask all drivers to follow this simple process:
Upon exiting the main car park gate, please turn LEFT and use the roundabout ahead to change your direction.
Please avoid turning right immediately out of the car park. This ensures that vehicles are moving in a predictable pattern away from the immediate pedestrian-heavy exit zone.
The ICS MUN Team recently flew to Jeju Island, South Korea to compete in the annual GECMUN Conference alongside seventeen other schools from the region. Of our fifteen participants, two were chairs and the rest were delegates.
Committees addressed topics such as children used in armed conflict, the pursuit of peace in the East Congo, the ethical use of human genome editing technology, the 1973 OPEC crisis, the July Crisis precipitating World War I, and more. Students researched, debated, collaborated, convinced, and made speeches in order to drive consensus towards solutions. Overall, our team came in third place and won the Honorable Delegation Award. In addition to the conference, our team enjoyed hiking part of Hallasan, seeing the Jeongbang waterfall, and eating Jeju cuisine. This concludes our successful season!
Please congratulate the following students on being recognized:
Business Committee: Outstanding Delegate: Kristobel H.
ADHOC Committee: Best Delegate: Guinness McKenzie
Jacqueline Kwan (Class of 2002) and John Leibowitz (Class of 2003)
Jacqueline and John met in high school at ICS, married in 2010, and live in Seattle with their three daughters. Jackie is a CPA with her own tax firm and John used to work in aerospace but now works as a software engineer.
They spend their time keeping up with their girls who are attending a local Christian school that reminds Jacqueline and John of ICS. They are also blessed to have their sisters Juliet Kwan (Class of 2006) and Jessie Kwan (Class of 2007) and their husbands and kids living in the Seattle area as well where they have the joy of raising their families together, with their oldest sister Judy (class of 2001) just a few hours drive in Vancouver BC.
Jacqueline and John are so thankful for the foundation and community that ICS provided to them both. They want to say thank you to the faithful teachers that made their education so special and memorable. They often sing Be Thou My Vision to their girls as a lullaby (thanks to Mrs. Wible who was a phenomenal choir teacher).

I find it incredible to bring my imagination to life in the physical world."
