Dear Parents,
As you come into school on Friday and Saturday to meet with your teacher, please also take a few minutes to look through the parenting books we have available for you to borrow. We know parenting is challenging; therefore we have books to help you.
Thank you to our Parent Association who have helped us to add some more parenting books in both English and Chinese.
One of the major areas of the development you will be discussing with your teacher is your child’s Social and Emotional development. This are covers Self-Regulation, Initiative or Engagement in learning and Social Interaction. Your child’s emotional well-being, how they regulate their emotions when faced with challenges, how they interact with others and how they respond when something happens that they don’t like and how motivated they are to learn in school.
All of these are affected by your child’s brain development, so an older child should be able to regulate their emotions better. However, other things can “get in the way”. If a child does not feel safe, for example Mom or Dad are away on a business trip or your domestic helper has “disappeared” (your child’s view of your helper going on home leave), then your child will feel less secure and is likely to come to school more anxious than usual.
Children who cannot regulate their behavior in school may be affected by what happens at home. If your child’s caregiver never says “No” to your child or your child is allowed to continue playing for as long as they want, then your child may have difficulty following instructions at school.
Please talk with your teacher about how your child is settling into school or progressing in their learning. Please remember, your teachers are qualified and a very experienced Early Years teachers that can provide valuable advice. Not only your teacher, but myself and Ms Pang our school counselor are here to help too. We have books to help.
Here is a flip book giving you more information on the books you can borrow:
A few very popular books are (Amazon links are for information only, you may borrow these books from school - we also have Chinese versions of the first 2 books):
The Five Love Languages of Children
This book helps you understand the different things your child may need to help them feel loved and safe and secure.
How to set loving boundaries or limits to help your child take responsibility for their actions.
This book helps you understand your child’s developing brain and how to help and guide your child
We also have other books, so please do browse through our mini library. You may borrow a book for as long as you need, just sign it out at the KG Office.
We are here not only to teach your child, but to nurture their development and help them grow into the person God created them to be. We are also here to serve you, our parents to partner with you in helping your child.
Looking forward to seeing everyone over Friday and Saturday. If you have any questions, please ask, or come and have a chat.
Blessings

Please note: Children who were absent on the photo day and who went to the Techniphoto studio or parents who ordered directly to Techniphoto will receive their photographs directly from Techniphoto (not through school).
For any other issues regarding the photos received, please contact Tecniphoto directly on 2803 5988.
If a different adult is coming to pick up your child from school, please notify the Kindergarten Office giving us their full name, Hong Kong Identity card number and their telephone number.
All people coming to pick up your child must:
Be on the authorized list on PowerSchool i.e. a parent has given us permission to release their child to that person.
Bring the purple pick-up card (original card, photographs will not be accepted).
In absence of the pick-up card, for persons we do not recognize we will either - check their Hong Kong Identity Card or call the phone number you have given us.
If we are unsure of the identity of the person picking up your child, we will check their identity.
If the person is not listed on PowerSchool, and you have not informed us, we will call parents to confirm.
If your child usually takes the bus home and changes to being picked up from school, please notify us. Please ensure that the person coming to school is on our authorized list. If in doubt, please give us their name
If you change or employ a new Domestic Helper, please remove your previous helper or add a new helper to the pick-up contacts on PowerSchool.
If your child is sick, please keep your child at home to rest and recover and notify the school by completing the relevant e-collect form on PowerSchool of:
Your child’s absence / number of days your child is likely to be off school
Your child’s body temperature (please state actual temperature, not just “has a fever”)
Once recovering from a fever (38C or above), please let us know the day and time your child’s fever subsided without medication. If you do not specify a time, we will use the time from your email. We can then specify how soon your child may return to school (48 hours after fever subsided).
Your child’s symptoms (not just “unwell”).
If your child has Chickenpox, Hand Foot and Mouth or other notifiable disease - please send in a doctor’s note confirming diagnosis. We also require a doctor’s note stating that your child is fit to return to school.
Red Eyes—conjunctivitis can be very infectious. If your child has red eyes, please give us a doctor’s note stating that your child is not infectious before they can come to school.
Department of Health requirements state that if a child has a fever (38C or above), or repeated diarrhea they need to stay home for at least 48 hours after the symptoms have subsided (without medication).
Even though your child’s fever may have gone, a child may still have a runny nose or bad cough and are not fit to return to school. Please keep them at home to rest.
Please do not send your child to school if they are still taking medication following an illness. The medicine may make your child sleepy and they still need time to recover and rest at home.
If your child has recovered but still has a mild cough (not chesty or coughing up phlegm), they may return to school but should wear a face mask.
