Dear ICS Community,
There are moments in a child's education that do not appear on any assessment yet shape their character for a lifetime. This spring, our upper elementary students are experiencing such growth through our new Service Learning x Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) initiative for grades 3 to 5. They are not merely discussing empathy, compassion, and kindness. They are embodying these values and putting their faith into action within our local community.
Grade 3 students are learning that genuine care requires empathy. They have been visiting a local elderly home and building authentic relationships with the residents. Next week, they will make their second visit, discovering through quiet conversation and shared activities that empathy deepens when we listen attentively and show up repeatedly to love our neighbors.
Grade 4 extended their learning beyond our immediate community. After studying the challenges confronting underprivileged families in Hong Kong, they created blessing cards for ethnically diverse and refugee students. We then hand-delivered these cards to YWAM Shanti in Yuen Long, learning firsthand that extending kindness lies at the very heart of the Gospel.
Grade 5 has been deepening their understanding of people with disabilities. Last week, a speaker from SAHK visited our school, sharing lived experiences and addressing misconceptions. Our oldest upper elementary students are now researching various disabilities and, in a meaningful act of servant leadership, sharing their newfound knowledge with their younger reading buddies. Through this work, they are learning to recognize every person as made in the image of God.
This initiative extends beyond isolated activities. Every visit to the elderly home, every blessing card, and every conversation between reading buddies is designed to develop SEL skills including empathy and responsible decision-making. More fundamentally, each action reflects God's love to others. Our students are discovering that their choices, however small, can bring dignity, joy, and belonging to those around them.
We extend our deepest gratitude to our Upper Elementary counselor, Mrs. Kimberly Chan, Senior Service Learning Officer, Mrs. Fanny Chan, and the teachers in Grades 3, 4, and 5. Thank you for your countless hours of planning, your willingness to extend learning beyond the classroom walls, and your thoughtful guidance as our students navigate the meaningful yet challenging work of caring for others.Â
To our parents, thank you for partnering with us to raise children who are not only strong students but also kind and faithful individuals. We are exceedingly proud of who they are becoming.
With gratitude,
Christina Daniel

Dear Parents and Students,
We are excited to share that our updated ICS uniforms will be on display in May, both in person at the Shek Mun campus and virtually, for our community to preview! Alongside the uniform pieces on display, prices and the ordering website will be shared at the same time. The new pieces reflect our schoolâs branding and colors: navy, light blue, and white. We are moving toward a more cohesive ICS uniform design that better reflects our school's brand and creates a consistent, polished look for all students across all grade levels.
Earlier this year, we invited interested parents and students to join our Uniform Committee. We would like to recognize these members, made up of principals from all school divisions, parents with students in all school divisions, and student representatives from both Middle and High school: Â
Students: Joelle Lee (8G3), Deborah Kong (10G6), Kristobel Hung (9G3), Jasmine Chan (8G4), Jovita Lam (11G4/StuCo Rep)Â
Parents: Vicki Wong, Miriam Shih, Eddie Tse, Merryl Lau (PA Rep), Jennifer Cheung (PA Chair)Â
School Representatives: Hilda Wong & Erin Johnson (Co-Chairs), Keith Welch (KG & ES Principal), Will Schroeder (MS Principal), Kiel Nation (HS Principal).Â
Each of these committed individuals has contributed thoughtful feedback and perspectives to help ensure the new uniforms serve our students and families well. If you have questions or comments about the uniform transition, you are welcome to reach out to any of these committee members or to the school leadership team. We would also like to give a place for any questions you may still have regarding the new uniforms. Â
Being mindful of the impact on families and the feedback shared with the Uniform Committee, there will be one full transition year for families to shift to the new uniforms. During the 2026-27 school year, all students P1-12 can continue to wear old uniform pieces that are navy, white, or khaki. Beginning in Fall 2027, all students will be expected to wear only the new ICS uniform items. Please see the specifics for each of our school divisions below for the 2026-27 school year:
Secondary:Â
All new uniform items are available for purchase and may be worn.Â
Students may continue wearing current navy or white uniform shirts and navy or khaki skorts/shorts/pants for daily wear and in P.E. classes. Â
Current Merch store varsity jackets may be worn until student graduation, but new varsity jackets will be sold through Collegepro.
Elementary:
All new uniform items are available for purchase and may be worn.Â
Students may continue wearing current white uniform shirts and navy or khaki skorts/shorts/pants for daily wear and in P.E. classes (G4-5).
Red polo shirts will be phased out at the end of this school year (June 2026).
Kindergarten:
Students will be required to wear the ICS school uniform beginning Fall of 2026.Â
Students may wear any already-purchased current white uniform shirts and navy or khaki skorts/shorts/pants.
For students who are not yet able to fit into the new uniform sizing, flexibility will be provided at the Kindergarten's discretion.Â
To support sustainability and responsible stewardship, Collegepro will introduce a uniform recycling program, allowing families to thoughtfully recycle older uniform items when they are no longer needed. We will share additional details as the transition approaches. In partnership with our PA and Service Learning office, we are also exploring ways to upcycle select uniform pieces. We recognize that items like the red polo shirts carry a long history within our community. Finding ways to honor this, while also embracing what lies ahead, is something we are committed to doing with care and intention.
Thank you for your partnership in this shift, as we look forward together. We are grateful to walk through this change together as a community, trusting the Lord to use even practical details like uniforms to shape a learning environment that honors Him and serves our students well.
Warm regards,
Hilda Wong, Director of External Relations
Erin Johnson, Elementary Assistant PrincipalÂ

Fueling Excellence: Recent Sodexo Initiatives
Our catering partner, Sodexo, has been busy bringing both global flavors and vital health education to our campus!
A Taste of Singapore
Last Friday, April 24, our community enjoyed a culinary highlight with a Singapore Specialty Day. We were honored to host Guest Chef John See, who brought over 28 years of expertise to our school. Students had the opportunity to sample authentic heritage flavors, including Hainanese Style Chicken Wings and Seafood Pao Fan, alongside our regular lunch service.
Know Your Vitamins
On April 28, students engaged with the interactive "Wellness Pro" exhibit. Through hands-on games and "Ready to Flip" challenges, they learned about key vitamins and how they act as natureâs "health boosters." It was a fantastic way to help our students make informed, healthy choices about the fuel their bodies need to flourish.
Thank you, Sodexo, for providing these engaging and nutritious "extra flavors" to our school week!
When a child has been assessed, maybe diagnosed, and someone has suggested therapy. But therapy comes in many shapes, and nobody has clearly explained what the differences are, which one suits the child, or what to realistically expect. This talk is designed to answer exactly those questions, in straightforward language, without the jargon.
The session will cover:
What ADHD and learning differences actually look like day to day, and why this shapes the kind of support a child needs
The main types of therapy available, explained in plain language, including what happens in the room and what each one is trying to achieve
How to tell whether a particular approach is a good fit for your child's age, personality, and difficulties
What your role as a parent or educator looks like alongside therapy, and how home and school can work with the process rather than against it
What realistic progress looks like, and what to do if things are not moving in the right direction.
