Dear ICS Community,
Exciting news! Parents will remember that I talked in the forum earlier this month about our plans to expand our STEM opportunities. I’m happy to say that those plans are now advancing to bring a successful schools STEM programme not just to ICS, but to Hong Kong and the wider Greater Bay Area. ICS will be the pioneer school of STEM on Track; this is a manufacturing, design and marketing challenge that combines hands-on engineering with STEM theory and competition. Students have to assemble, brand and test 4-stroke engine go-karts, and then race them in a final event. Essentially it’s the opportunity to be part of a mini Formula 1 team.
ICS has been identified to pioneer this programme here, including the opportunity to send two teams to the UK National Final on June 20 this year. It will be a big challenge, but I believe our excellent students are capable of rising to that, and for those who successfully take part, it will of course provide great evidence of ‘super-curricular’ initiative and involvement when they come to apply to universities. Those who represent ICS this year will be part of a promotional film which will be used to market STEM on Track to Hong Kong, and we are aiming for a 2027 Final in the GBA. We’ve decided to restrict applications to Grades 9-11 this year for the majority of roles, which I’ll announce to High Schoolers on Monday. Selection of our two drivers will be open widely across Secondary, and we’ll arrange a separate selection process for that.
As we think about our vision for ICS into the next generation, I’m reminded of a Christian writer called Andy Crouch on technology. It can be a ‘device’, involving a Faustian and dehumanising pact (think of social media!), or it can be an ‘instrument’: something that calls forth ‘allness’ of heart, soul, mind and strength (think of a piano). As we embark on this exciting new adventure for our students, I’m reminded even more to seek first the Kingdom of God, in every endeavour, and as we look to serve the good of the city by equipping our students for every good work.
Yours in Christ

To further optimise the limited storage provided as part of the Google Workspace for Education, starting on February 2, 2026, the IT Department will be implementing some changes to the Google Drive Data Quota usage for students and parents. For students, the data usage will be capped at 30 Gigabytes, and parents will be capped at 15 Gigabytes.
What that means for you is over the next month, take a look at the data that you have stored on Google Drive and reduce it down to the relevant threshold. For the majority of you, you won’t need to do anything as you are below the new limit but for a small handful of you, you’ll need to download and offload your data from the School’s Google Drive. You can find steps on how to do so below.

If you have any questions or need assistance, you can contact the IT Department by emailing us at support@ics.edu.hk or giving us a call at 3920 0228 and someone can assist you. Our office hours are 8am - 5pm, during normal school days.
Please check the carpark Lost and Found Station for any water bottles belonging to your child. Unclaimed items will be removed after a certain period. Thank you!
