Dear ICS Community,
“Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked”(Psalm 82:3-4).
This mandate is at the very core of our mission as a Christian community. At ICS, we often speak of the "Warrior Spirit" in the context of excellence and resilience. However, the most vital battle we engage in is the one that ensures every child in our care is safe, seen, and protected.
As we look toward 20 January 2026, when the new Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse Ordinance officially comes into force in Hong Kong, we do so with a spirit of readiness and deep responsibility.
A Unified Effort in Preparation
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the leaders and colleagues across our school who have committed themselves so fully to preparing for this law. It’s been a collective effort that started last year with a government briefing the safeguarding team attended in winter last year, as well as work throughout last year to lay groundwork for this current year.
Strengthening our Common Language and Culture
To ensure we are a community aware of and committed to safeguarding, every faculty and staff member began this year by signing a Safeguarding Code of Conduct, pledging their personal commitment to being a shield for our students after our annual kick-off training on safeguarding. This was done during our pre-service week where we looked ahead to the new law.
This continued with work building out systems and processes, as well as key people taking government training on child protection and mandatory reporting. We had both colleagues who are mandatory reporters and other people who work closely with children or colleagues who must report serious harm take the training. This enables us to build an even stronger support system and school culture around reporting concerns.
Systems Built on Stewardship and Commitment
To support our staff, we have aligned our internal reporting systems with the government’s new protocols. As the Hong Kong government’s systems and digital platforms may evolve following the launch, we are committed to remaining agile and updating our processes when needed. This can help us respond most effectively when a concern arises that requires a response.
Safeguarding is an ongoing journey of stewardship. As we move forward do expect updates and further opportunities to know more about how we safeguard the children in our care, and how you can partner in this endeavor.
Thank you for your continued prayers and for being part of a community that takes the call of Psalm 82 to heart!
In Christ,
Brian Schroeder

As shared in December, our Christmas concerts dedicated an act of gentle, practical compassion to two families affected by the Tai Po fire: our ICS staff family who lost their home, and firefighter Mr. Ho Wai-ho’s family. Today, we humbly announce your generous love offering raised a total of HK$186,210. This remarkable total came from approximately 100 families in our ICS community, reflecting your collective hearts to those in need.
Distribution of Funds
Your love offering raised HK$186,210, of which HK$170,000 will support our affected ICS staff family, guided by our original intent and their particular needs. The remaining HK$16,210 will go to Mr. Ho Wai-ho’s family as a heartfelt gesture of goodwill and respect in memory of his sacrifice, given other substantial support they’ve received. No administrative fees have been taken; 100% of the proceeds are being passed directly to the families through this love offering.
ICS Staff Family Gratitude
The affected ICS staff family shared: “We are profoundly thankful to the ICS community for immediate help in every aspect—from shelter and clothing to uniforms for our children, and now this vital monetary support. Your love has carried our burdens during this trial.”
Closing Prayer
Thank you for allowing the light of Christ to shine through your generosity—your compassion has made a meaningful difference. Let us continue praying for both families’ rebuilding and healing.

Many of us remember the uneasy mix of possibility and pressure we felt as teenagers, standing on the brink of adulthood and unsure which path to take. A single honest conversation with someone further along can reshape how a young person sees their gifts, studies, and future.

To further optimise the limited storage provided as part of the Google Workspace for Education, starting on February 2, 2026, the IT Department will be implementing some changes to the Google Drive Data Quota usage for students and parents. For students, the data usage will be capped at 30 Gigabytes, and parents will be capped at 15 Gigabytes.
What that means for you is over the next month, take a look at the data that you have stored on Google Drive and reduce it down to the relevant threshold. For the majority of you, you won’t need to do anything as you are below the new limit but for a small handful of you, you’ll need to download and offload your data from the School’s Google Drive.
You can find steps on how to do so below.
Managing Storage in Google Drive
Manage your storage in Drive, Gmail & Photos
If you have any questions or need assistance, you can contact the IT Department by emailing us at support@ics.edu.hk or giving us a call at 3920 0228 and someone can assist you. Our office hours are 8am - 5pm, during normal school days.
Our school’s domestic worker clothing drive is a wonderful way to show support and appreciation for the hardworking domestic workers in our community. The goal is to collect gently used clothes in good condition that can make a real difference in someone’s life. It’s a chance for all of us to come together and give back in a meaningful way.
Please remember, this drive is specifically for clothing, hats, backpacks. so no personal hygiene items or worn-out clothes, please. The collection will take place at the ICS carpark ,so let’s work together to make this effort thoughtful and impactful! Thank you!
