Just yesterday, walking through our bustling hallways, I found myself wrapped in unexpected hugs and cheerful greetings from my UK study trip "buddies" – both students and fellow chaperones. These spontaneous moments of joy, with nicknames flying and shared memories bubbling up, remind me of what makes our ICS community so special. There's something beautiful about how God weaves our individual journeys into lasting friendships and meaningful connections that extend far beyond any single experience.
What fills my heart each day is seeing how these bonds of fellowship multiply and grow throughout our community. Whether it's witnessing returning families warmly embracing newcomers, watching friendships blossom across grade levels, seeing our returning teachers mentor new colleagues as they find their way, or hearing stories of how our alumni continue to shine Christ's light in their various paths, each interaction reflects the distinctive spirit that makes ICS truly extraordinary.
September brings us wonderful opportunities to deepen these connections. We're blessed to welcome families exploring to join our journey at our admission open houses, to support parents through our Parent U sessions, and to celebrate the achievements including an ICS alumnus' musical composition featuring in the Hong Kong Philharmonic National Day concert. These moments remind us how God's gifts flourish within our nurturing community and reach far beyond our campus walls.
These gatherings are just glimpses of the extraordinary year ahead. I encourage each of you – whether you're a parent, student, staff member, or part of our extended ICS family – to stay engaged as we continue to grow together. Every time we connect, we strengthen the bonds that make ICS not just a school, but a true community united in Christ's love.
As we embark on this new academic year together, I'm reminded of Ecclesiastes 4:9-10: "Two are better than one... for if they fall, one will lift up the other." This is the heart of our ICS community – supporting one another, celebrating together, and growing in faith and learning side by side.
Whether in the hallways, at our events, or through our vibrant social media updates, let's continue to Inspire, Connect, and Serve as one ICS family!
Warmest blessings,
Hilda Wong
