Dear ICS Community,
When the Kindergarten first moved into our current campus in Ma On Shan, a Bible verse was chosen to display on the wall in the main entrance. Zechariah Chapter 4 verse 10a was chosen. This says “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.”
This verse was speaking about the building of the temple in Jerusalem that was taking longer than expected. God was speaking to his people to not despise the preparations and the foundations being built. For the ICS Kindergarten team, we believe that the early foundations are important in helping children develop into the people God created them to be. We are “Laying foundations, nurturing hearts”.
Kindergarten is a place where we lay the foundations for the children’s future education with language that prepares them to learn to read or write, or basic mathematics, but also for life. We help the children develop life skills; basis self-help skills, how to correctly hold a pencil, how to make friends, and how to share and take turns.
However, there is one other very important aspect to our work. That is nurturing hearts. We are helping the children to understand how much God loves them and that we all are created in the image of God. That God loves us all unconditionally and He wants us to share that love with others.
Zechariah was writing about how God brings great things out of small things, how careful shaping and crafting at the start can lead to great things. God sees all stages and works through us, in Kindergarten we see God working even in our youngest learners. We also see how God continues to work in each and every child as they move up through the school.
God not only cares about the work but also the workers. His work in us, both as educators or as parents, is as important as the work he does through us. We are role models for the children. Through us they learn about God and our example of how we show love, how we treat others and our example of reading the Bible to learn about God and praying to build our relationship with God is laying the foundations in our children.
Thank you for partnering with us in building up His children.
In Christ,

A Resounding Success: Law School Info Day Connects Generations of ICS Warriors
Last Saturday, the ICS community came together for an inspiring Law School Info Day, a flagship event organized by the Alumni Association (ICSAA) that showcased the power of our global Warrior network.
Insights from Around the World
With over 70 participants joining both in-person and online, the sessions were packed with practical advice from an incredible lineup of 10 ICS alumni - James, Elizabeth, Natalie, Cyrus, Nathan, Angie, Andrea, Adrienne, Luke, and Jenny from across Canada, US, and UK. These alumni are students or graduates from prestigious institutions like HKU, CUHK, University of Oxford, University of Bristol, and UCLA sharing firsthand experiences on:
Crafting successful university applications for different countries.
Adapting to academic life and legal studies in various cultural contexts.
Transitioning from law school to their current professional roles in different regions.
The passion and dedication our senior Warriors have for ICS were palpable, highlighting their deep commitment to supporting the next generation.
A Community Effort: Showing Our Unity
The success of the event was further amplified by the wonderful support from our Parents' Association (ICSPA), who generously sponsored the refreshments for the mingling sessions. This kind gesture provided a warm and welcoming atmosphere for alumni and students to connect informally, fostering meaningful conversations. It was a beautiful demonstration of the entire ICS community—parents, alumni, and students—working in harmony.
