Dear ICS Community,
ICS is unique to me and many other community members in many ways. Honoring Christ by modeling excellence and innovation in holistic Christian education is at the centre of every facet of our daily operation. The vision is not only manifested in the curriculum and learning experience but is also rooted in other important setups like Finance. For example, ICS operates a Financial Aid (FA) program where we offer tuition subsidy designed to assist families facing financial challenges. At ICS, we trust that God’s provision is always abundant in many ways (Philippians 4:19), and it is our desire to be able to share His blessings with those families who have financial needs. At ICS, we welcome children of Gospel workers, e.g. ministers, missionaries, to enroll in our programs and apply for FA. To help applicants to have a rough idea on the level of possible assistance to be granted, we have also designed a Financial Aid Estimator tool on our website for easy input and a quick preliminary result. In recent years, ICS has also extended the FA to cover the fees on some co-curricular trips and activities, e.g. Week Without Wall trips, ACSC trips, etc. It is our sincere hope that our students can fully enjoy the vast learning opportunities at ICS as much as possible.
In processing the FA applications, all related information are kept confidential, and we treat every single case with reasonable care and diligence. At the same time, it has also been our privilege to sometimes meet with the applicants face to face to better understand their needs and even pray together. Each story or situation may be unique, but we have been able to witness God’s amazing provision continuously.
We trust that our mission is in God’s good hands, and we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28). God has entrusted the ICS community with abundant resources, and we believe that these blessings can be shared with thankfulness.
So please join me in praying to our Heavenly Father that He will continue to use this Financial Aid program to bless the ICS community and that His name be exalted.
Blessings,
Richard Lam
Chief Financial Officer
❓What is Seasonal Influenza❓
Seasonal influenza is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. It is common in Hong Kong, typically peaking in January-March and July-August. While most healthy people recover without issues, it can cause serious illness, especially in young children.
👀 Key Symptoms to Watch For 👀
Fever (>37.8C)
Cough
Sore throat
Runny nose
Muscle or joint pain
Fatigue and headaches
Some children may also experience vomiting and diarrhoea
🫱 How it Spreads 🫲
Influenza viruses spread mainly through droplets when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks. It can also be spread by touching surfaces contaminated with the virus and then touching the eyes, nose, or mouth.
🛑 Prevention is the Best Protection: Vaccination is the Most Effective Step🛑
The seasonal influenza vaccine is safe and effective. The CHP recommends vaccination for all persons aged 6 months or above. It is the best way to protect your child and our community from serious complications
Due to increased seasonal influenza activity, we are implementing the following health measures across the entire Shek Mun campus to protect our community:
Check the temperature at home daily. Students & Staff with a fever (37.5°C ear or 37.8°C forehead) must stay home.
Temperatures will be checked again upon school arrival. Students & Staff with a fever will be sent home
Key reminders to prevent the Spread of Communicable Diseases.
ICS Official WhatsApp Account Pilot Program
ICS is piloting an official WhatsApp Business account to broadcast urgent updates, such as extreme weather arrangements or other pressing school matters.
To ensure you receive these messages, please review and update your parent contact information in PowerSchool by Friday, September 26, if needed. This account is for urgent alerts only; daily inquiries should still be directed to your child’s school division office by email or phone.
Extreme Weather Protocols
With another strong typhoon approaching, our Extreme Weather Protocols are now active for a potential school closure. These plans provide optional learning activities for students, with teachers communicating details by 9:00 AM on any closure day.
Please review the document for division-specific information.
Many families find us through word of mouth, just like you may have. Now you can extend that same gift to others! We invite you to share the experience of our Christ-centered community by bringing like-minded families to our Open House. Join us for a parent session, campus tour, and a peek into our classrooms.
Mooncake Madness 2025
The ICS Service Advocates Club is inviting everyone to participate in the upcoming mid autumn drive - Mooncake Madness 2025!
Dates: From now until Tuesday, Sep 23, 2025
Collection Location: Carpark
Last year, an estimated 3.2 million pieces of mooncakes were wasted in Hong Kong. The event aims to help the ‘Feeding Hong Kong’ organization (which is the organisation hosting this event) reduce mooncake waste while sharing them with Hong Kong’s vulnerable communities at this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival.
So if anyone has a lot of mooncakes at home, please feel free to donate them so that we can spread the Mid-Autumn Festival joy this year. The organization will then distribute the donated mooncakes with frontline charities before the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Guidelines for Donating Surplus Mooncakes:
1. Non-perishable and able to be stored at room temperature
2. In original, unopened packaging
3. With a clearly stated best before or use by date and manufacturer
