We are thrilled to share that Ashley represented the school with distinction at the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival, securing 3rd place in the highly competitive N828 Open Class for Stringed Instruments. Ashley’s impressive repertoire included:
Sonata No. 4, 1st movement – Beethoven
Caprice Op. 10, 5th movement “Alla Saltarella” – Henryk Wieniawski
Carmen Fantasy Op. 25 – Pablo de Sarasate
The adjudicator was particularly captivated by Ashley’s interpretation of the Carmen Fantasy, praising its "Great character" and "Exciting ending." This accomplishment is a testament to Ashley’s dedication, perseverance, and the talent God has given. We give all glory to our Lord, Jesus Christ, for His sufficient grace. As James 1:4 reminds us: “Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” Ashley’s success is a wonderful example of this verse lived out.
Ten ICS high school students traveled to Dalat International School in Penang, Malaysia with Mrs. McKEnzie and Dr. Taylor to take part in the biennial ACSC Honor Band from March 4-8.
Harriet Lok (Flute), Chelsea Chan (Oboe), Charmaine Cheung (Clarinet), Bethany So (Clarinet), Renee Yang (Bass Clarinet), Wyatt Ho (Trumpet), Silas Lo (Trumpet), Clover Wu (Trombone), Audrey Tse (Euphonium), and Max Liu (Percussion) represented ICS very well.
They joined with approximately 70 other students from ACSC schools to rehearse prepared music and perform as a unified concert band at the culminating concert on Saturday evening. A number of ICS students won auditions for solos in the final concert. Not only did the students have the opportunity to share music with each other but they also had the chance to perform and interact with a group of Rohingya refugee students on Friday morning. The students made great strides musically while forging great memories and friendships - so much so that several of the students expressed a desire for the festival to continue for a few more days! Congratulations, ICS ACSC Honor Band Students!
Congratulation to the MOVE Dance Club, won the 1st prize of Beat the Beat Dance Competition.
On last Thursday, MOVE Dance Club attended a K Pop & Hip Hop dance competition, Beat the Beat Dance. It is a dance competition held among international schools at Hong Kong. There were almost 20 schools joined the competition.
ICS is the 1st time to join. Our dances have worked so hard to find the right song, work on chorography, practice together, memorising the dance steps. Their hard works is rewarded.
