Dear ICS Community,
There is something special about watching our students discover that their hands can make a difference. This month, service learning is coming alive across every division, from our youngest learners organizing food drives to high school clubs tackling global issues with local action. In each of these moments, students are not just completing projects; they are living out our call to love and serve others, discovering that learning gains its deepest meaning when it reaches beyond ourselves.
Across campus, service is taking shape in beautiful and varied ways. Our High School service clubs are hard at work, with initiatives ranging from serving at family fun day to connecting with the elderly in Shek Mun, to book drives that extend our impact beyond the school gates. In Middle School, Week Without Walls begins this weekend, challenging students to step into unfamiliar contexts and serve with humility and openness. Meanwhile, our upper elementary students are engaging in meaningful new opportunities that integrate SEL (social-emotional learning) with service, helping them connect empathy to action and understand that serving others also grows their own hearts. And in a wonderful display of initiative, grade 3 is leading a food drive, modeling for the whole school that you're never too young to care for your community.
In all of this, we are reminded that service is not simply an activity, it is a way of seeing the world. When students pack food donations, plan service projects, or prepare to serve beyond our campus, they are learning that they have something to offer. They are learning gratitude for what they have and compassion for every human made in the image of God. This is formation that no textbook can provide. So let's celebrate these efforts, encourage our students in their serving, and reflect together on how we might each contribute to the flourishing of our community and world.
With gratitude for all the ways you serve,
Christina Daniel
Dean of Student Life
Last Saturday, our school community came together for a truly memorable annual Family Fun Day, welcoming over 1,000 attendees for a morning of fun and connection under the beautiful theme "Growing A Better World." We were incredibly grateful that God held back the heavy rain just as our event kicked off at 11 am, blessing us with a dry window until the drizzle returned as we wrapped up.
The day was a perfect blend of joy and purpose. While children's laughter filled the air, they were also learning about compassion and community impact—a true example of having fun with purpose. It was equally wonderful to see this purpose extend to our parents, who enjoyed the chance to relax and mingle with other parents, strengthening the bonds within our school family while their children played.
A huge thank you to our incredible community partners:
Our Partner NGOs: Heartfelt thanks to 10 NGOs for hosting engaging game booths. Their creativity helped children learn about the impactful work these organizations do in our community, planting seeds for a lifelong spirit of service.
The Parents Association (PA): We are so grateful for the PA's generous sponsorship of Face Painting and Entrance Decoration, which added so much vibrancy to the day. Thank you also for connecting us with the Police Volunteer Services Corps, who brought a retired police dog for a demonstration—an absolute highlight for our students!
JLL Team: We could not have done it without the JLL team, who assisted with the heavy setup and dismantle work, ensuring all venues were perfectly ready for classes on Monday morning.
Inspiring feedback from parents confirmed the joy of seeing our students connect with these organizations. At ICS, we believe service learning nurtures compassionate hearts, and seeing our youngest learners leave with such joy is a testament to how events like this plant seeds for a lifelong spirit of service.
We are so grateful to our families, staff, and community partners who made this day possible. Thank you for being a part of our incredible community!

I find it incredible to bring my imagination to life in the physical world."

I look back at my days in ICS with fond memories. Back then, the campus was in a somewhat decrepit but strangely hygge-esque seminary building in Kowloon City. It was a small close-knit community.
After graduating from law school at the University of British Columbia and working in private practice, I'm now based in Singapore. I've been working at the LEGO Group out of their Singapore Hub for almost a decade, enjoying most of my time there. I'm married to my lovely wife Mel and have twin boys Luke and Kai. I spend a lot of time plotting and maneuvering on how to maximize my sleep and de-escalate kiddy fights. I also have a wonderful time reading news articles or listening to conversations about Singapore vs Hong Kong.
Dear Parents and Students,
You may remember that earlier this year we invited interested parents and students to join our Uniform Committee (K-12). Over the past several months, the team has worked closely with uniform suppliers to find options that truly reflect the character and spirit of our school: fresh, unified, and forward‑looking.
Our committee— made up of principals from all divisions, parents representing a range of grade levels, and student representatives from both Middle and High School— reviewed community feedback and survey results to ensure we addressed key concerns around quality, comfort, and affordability.
After a rigorous selection process—where we invited eight vendors, with five presenting in person with samples—and used a data‑based evaluation system to rate each vendor on quality, design and branding, pricing, responsiveness and collaboration, as well as purchase facilitation, we’re pleased to share that a new provider has been selected.
The upcoming uniform range introduces exciting updates: new cardigan and quarter‑zip pullover options, improved skirts with practical pockets, and P.E. shorts made with more flexible fabrics, just to name a few. These fresh designs and fabrics not only offer better comfort and value but also more clearly reflect our school colors and identity. It’s the first major update in many years and represents our commitment to both continuous improvement and Vision 2050.
We understand that uniform changes can raise concerns about cost, especially for families with more than one child. To support a smooth transition, we’ll have a gradual rollout: most current items will remain acceptable for some time, and we’ll share a detailed timeline soon. As part of the agreement, uniform prices will be honored for the next five years, ensuring stability and predictability for families as we transition to the new range.
If possible, please hold off on purchasing additional current‑style items, as new designs and slightly revised colors will launch with our new company in Fall 2026. For any questions, please contact communications@ics.edu.hk.
We’re genuinely excited about this refresh and confident it will benefit both students and families, bringing our school spirit to life through a more modern, cohesive look. Thank you all for your enthusiasm and partnership as we take this next step together.
Warm regards,
Erin Johnson, Elementary Assistant Principal
Hilda Wong, Director of External Relations
