Inquiry Learning - Sharing Week

We’ve come to the end of this latest inquiry ‘That’s Entertainment’ and this week we’ve all sorts of learning on display from the students. The Inquiry was a mixture of The Arts and Technology, and across the week we’ve seen puppet plays, Minecraft performances, use of Green Screen, storytelling, dance and even an awesome beatboxing performance from Maceo and Jay.

HERO - Sharing Learning

We’ve taken our next step with HERO and that is to start sharing learning from each teaching team. At least once a week a post will go to the ‘Community Feed’ from your child/ren’s teaching team, highlighting some of the amazing learning students have been up to. If you get a notification from the App, or as an email...it means the post is related to your child or your child's team. We are also increasing our use of the app for notices and information...again, if you get a notification it is targeted. Some good examples are; over the last few weeks Hockey information has been going out (if your child is in a team you will have received a notification/email), as well as information about the cancelled Russell Street Exchange (all year 5 and 6 students) and Nga Tama Toa (just 5 boys). This ability for us to manage the information is great and means that you are getting the information that is relevant to you and your child. If you are having HERO issues please contact us and we can help sort you out.

Mr Blue - What a Legend!

Our very own Mr Blue has (once again) been recognised for being so awesome, for giving up so much of his own time to contribute to local sport...in this case Netball. Here are the words from Netball Wairarapa:

Congratulations Blue Hansen on being Netball Wairarapa’s August Volunteer of the Month💜

Words cannot express how much this guy gives to the Netball Community without a moan, a day missed or a hand out expecting anything in return.

Every Tuesday and Saturday Morning, Blue is here before anyone else, setting up the pads on the posts that we all take for granted, putting out the tables and chairs for the officials and then slips out the gate before anyone knows he’s gone on to his next volunteer job. Every community needs a person like Blue and we are very lucky we have him. Enjoy your small gift from Cadbury and Netball New Zealand Blue, we appreciate all the work you do for so many.👍❤️💚

Term 3 Sport - DRAWS

We will load the draws into this folder for Netball, Hockey and Miniball. Make sure you check it every week!

2020 Yr 5/6 Netball Season

Many thanks for your co-operation while we play at level 2. A reminder that teams are allowed a maximum of 16 in total including players, umpire etc - we are allowing ONE spectator per player. Please be prompt to drop your children to their game and collect afterwards.

A reminder to check the draw in Team 3 Sport - DRAWS folder or the Netball Wairarapa website. We really appreciate you having players at the courts on time and 'netball ready'. This means long hair tied up, nails cut, correct uniform/sneakers and NO jewellery to be worn.

It is very unlikely games will be cancelled, but if they are it will be posted on the DPS FB page or the Netball Wairarapa FB page.

Best of luck for your game!

Any questions...please contact Amy Williams on amywilliams@douglaspark.school.nz

Winter Hockey Season

REMINDER: draws can be found in this folder.

Primary Hockey will still be played at alert level 2. There are a few changes to ensure teams can still play. There will be hand sanitiser at the gates as well as the QR code for the Covid-19 app.

PLEASE NOTE

There must be no more than 16 people with each group, this is to include players, coach and spectators. Anyone else MUST remain outside the complex or in their cars. Each player will be allowed ONE spectator. There is no exception to this rule as the facility must keep numbers to a maximum of 100 at all times.

We have attached a turf map that shows you where you can go depending on the field that you are playing on. Please use the hand sanitiser and make sure children are not sharing their hockey gear. All teams must leave the grounds as soon as their game is finished.

The draw has been changed to accommodate the Level 2 restrictions. Please make sure you are connected to our school app, Hero, as there will be regular updates on there too.
