Dear Parents, Staff, and Friends of CAS:
What a fantastic evening last Saturday!!! The event was grandiose and fireworks provided by Mr. and Mrs. Youssefi, lit up the Californie Sky that night marking decades of our institution's Search for Excellence, Knowledge and Understanding. Our school celebrated its long-term friendships and gathered those from near and far to celebrate our 50th Anniversary. Those in attendance can certainly attest that last Saturday, May 27th will forever be etched in our memories. Thank you once again to Fatiha Sajid, the master mind of the event who pushed it beyond all limits. Thank you to all of the event committee members along with others including the PTC who helped make this possible. We extend our sincere appreciation to our wonderful families, dignitaries and the United States Consul General Lawrence Randolph for honoring us with their presence. Pictures in our gallery speak volumes for themselves. We cannot thank enough our sponsors, who helped make it exciting. We are fortunate to have the generosity of many partners and parents including those who would like to remain anonymous. We acknowledge the following CAS parents who sponsored the Gala: Mr. and Mrs. Hilali and Mr. and Mrs. Fadile.
Our gratitude goes equally to Mr. and Mrs. Tazi (Nascer and Lina) for their generous donation towards the CAS Scholarship Fund and to Mr. and Mrs. Youssefi (Jawad and Ghizlane) for the amazing fireworks!
This Saturday we also celebrate the thirty-eight (38) Seniors who will be graduating. They have achieved admission offers to some of the finest colleges and Universities in the US, Canada and Europe.
Our wonderful PTC Members are soon to be taking leave after spoiling us with a wonderful year full of events from the Parents Welcome Breakfast last Fall to the Grade 6 Graduation to be held on June 10th.
PTC Members:
Ms. Sara Jamaleddine
Ms. Asmaa Chaoui- Belkady
Ms. Kaoutar Alami-Mejjati
Ms. Safinaze Chraibi
Much appreciation to Ms. Loubna Rhannage and Ms. Kaoutar Ziali, who along with other members have been working behind the scenes.
We will be holding the elections of a new PTC on Tuesday, June 13th. If you are interested to serve as an officer, please send an email to Halima Sarhane at hsarhane@cas.ac.ma
Officers will consist of: President, Vice President, 2 Co-Treasurers, a Secretary, Storage Manager, and a Faculty Member Representative. Once the Officers are elected, they will decide among themselves the role that each will play in the PTC. The transition with the current PTC will take place right after the elections.
Again, thank you valuable members of the PTC and we are looking forward to welcoming the new members on board.
Finally, congratulations to our dear colleague, Ms. Ami Wright, our Pre-First Teacher, for the birth of her son, Amir. Both mother and child are enjoying each other's company with Papa Omar.
Sincerely,
John J. Randolph

On Friday, May 12, Dr. Mitchem's and Mr. Lydon's IB Business 11 classes welcomed Mookies Cookies founder and owner Nisma Bellamine (Class of 2012) to talk about how she started and runs her business. Students asked her thoughtful questions that connected her business to what they are learning in our IB Business class. The Guinness World Record was awarded to First Plastics Morocco, a company owned by Nabil Safieddine, father of Neil (10th grade) and Yann (9th grade).
The title is Strongest CPVC water supply pipes in the world.
The tests were conducted by the Guinness accredited stakeholders around the world and it took 2 years to do so.
Needless to say that this great achievement will have its positive impact on the Moroccan industries in different fields as it will inspire them to strive for excellence, one of CAS mottos.
Congratulations to Nabil and Hafça Safieddine, their 2 children and to the wonderful First Plastics Team, as it is all about TEAMWORK.
The formal, hosted by Casablanca American School, is an event where students had the opportunity to dress up according to the theme of masquerade, take pictures in a Photo Booth, have fun in karaoke, and eat from all the food options at hand. Through this project, we aimed to raise funds for IDMAJ for it to be able to continue and foster global education, and human empathy through national and international education for the students in need in Morocco. This would give students the opportunity to have access to a better education.

Dear CAS Community,
I cannot believe that the end of the year is coming up. This year has gone by so quickly. It was a real pleasure for me to return to this beautiful community of ours and to be able to celebrate 50 years of excellence with you! Admissions will be closed for testing from June 12th until August 7th. However, you can still submit your inquiries and applications online all throughout the summer. We wish you all a wonderful vacation and look forward to seeing you all on August 23rd!
Sincerely,
Zaineb Sajid
Admissions Officer
I am very pleased to announce that NEASC Commission on International Education (CIE) has approved our school to proceed to the next phase of re-accreditation!
The visitors' reports are very positive! We should be proud of CAS as a learning community. Jeffrey C. Bradley, CIE director, has commended our community for being "an inclusive, supportive culture".
In his letter, Mr. Jeffrey C. Bradley described CAS staff as "enthusiastic, open, and eager community members ready to move the school forward". The visiting team has also highlighted the paramount role that Mr. Randolph has played in bringing trust and stability to CAS.
Thanks for contributing to the success of the Prep Visit, and I am looking forward to our school-wide internal reflection stage of re-accreditation.
The weekend of May 20-21, CAS hosted a Debate Tournament. Competing schools included CAS, American Academy Casablanca, and Al Akhawayn School of Ifrane. Day 1 involved preliminary rounds setting up a playoff bracket for day 2. The semifinal debates had AAC debating ASI and CAS1 debating CAS 2. This established the final round debate between CAS1 and AAC. AAC won the debate, placing first with CAS1 placing second.
CAS teams were:
Wiam Aichour, Rita Bennani, Myriam Mohemmane, Layla Chaouni, and Lilya Adnani
Mehmet Topal, Sarah Spiral, Rania El Ouarrak, Betul Topal, and Mia El Mernissi.
Special thanks to our volunteer staff judges: Mr. Destarac, Mr. Hunter, Mrs. Kourti, Mrs. Garcia, and Mrs. Sitoianu.
And congratulations to Betul Topal, Mehmet Topal, Sarah Spiral, Rita Bennani, and Wiam Aichour who were selected in the top 10 speakers for the tournament.
