Dear Parents:
Welcome back from a well deserved Spring Break. As the school year draws to an end, there is important information to share with our Community.
Following our Board President, Ms. Sofia Amrani’s, email regarding Board Elections, we count on our Association members to virtually attend and vote on school matters and on electing new Board members. This is your institution and your participation at our Virtual General Association Meeting is essential!
Due to the ongoing pandemic, we had to alter, change and cancel some of our wonderful events that make our school special. Despite the constraints due to COVID, we are managing well. Since the beginning of 2021, we registered only 14 cases among our students and 4 amongst our Staff. The mitigation protocols that we have set since the beginning of the Pandemic, remain in place; frequent hand sanitizing/washing, respecting social distancing, quarantining, wearing of masks, checking temperatures and requiring PCR tests for our staff members and students who were exposed to Covid 19.
CAS strives to promote academic excellence whilst encouraging students to also be conscious of and participate in humanitarian operations. On the one hand, a significant number of our Seniors have been accepted into prestigious Colleges and universities and have won significant scholarships. While on the other, it has been indeed wonderful to see our young Community members join in humanitarian activities. To name a few:
Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign - IB CAS Project
Blood Donation Project - NHS students
People to People - Caravane Humanitaire to Zagora
FurPaws
Bab Rayane Visits and Donations - NHS students
A big thank you is extended to all for the wonderful contributions towards our Support Workers' Ramadan Food Drive. All went home with more than one basket full of the necessary food items to share with their families. AGAIN, THANK YOU!
A couple of reminders:
Next Wednesday, April 28th, is Early dismissal day for students. Please refer to the divisional principals correspondence in this regard.
Morocco will switch to day light savings time on May 16th. Let’s all remember to move our clocks and electronic devices one hour forward, "Spring Ahead."
Please be reminded that Monday, May 31st US Memorial Day is now a regular school day.
Sincerely,
John J. Randolph
Dear Parents:
Within a very few weeks you all shall be voting on replacement Board Members from candidates of our Association who would like to be considered for this most important role in our school. Many of you have been here long enough to have remembered the enormous turmoil in past years and the unexpected and sudden departure of the school Director in May of 2018. Although the departure of the school’s Director in 2018 was directly caused by a failure of the school, the previous upheaval was caused by a rogue Board of Directors. Amongst many other infractions, that Board of Directors cost the school 7-8 Million Dhs in lost lawsuits due to illegal dismissals of employees or settlements out of court. The problems were so severe that the United States Department of State along with the Embassy and Consulate General threatened to withdraw the school’s status as a US Department of State Overseas Assisted School if the situation was not corrected. That particular Board of Directors was forced to resign, however, the damage to the school’s reputation was grave and resulted in parent flight especially the dependents of Official Diplomats and a major decline in admission interest.
Every vote, therefore, is important in this matter and for whom you cast your vote and support is crucial. This exercise must not be taken lightly as ultimately it involves the quality of education of your children, the stability of this school and its future. The outgoing Board Members have done a remarkable job assisting me with righting the school and addressing important issues, however, it spent one whole year of wasted energy dealing with previous problems along with five failed lawsuits brought by a Board Member who was subsequently expelled.
Now we are charged with growing this school and steering it towards the future and the constant change that is required to maintain our standards of excellence. Choosing Board Members who are going to join in this initiative is critical and your learning the qualifications of each and their vision to accomplish this mission is of utmost importance.
Sincerely yours,
John J. Randolph
Welcome back!
We have finished our second week of Ramadan. Students have generally adapted to the new schedule. I would like to take this opportunity to ask parents to make sure their children are ready for the online interactions as there is an increase in the number of tardies, especially in the morning. We have only 2 more weeks before the holy month of Ramadan ends! I highly recommend that students get enough sleep and structure their time in a better fashion. Our teachers can provide a high quality education only if we are all on the same page. This said, we are a committed community and as a result of this commitment, it is great to know that some of our Seniors have earned great Scholarships to further their studies Abroad and I’m sincerely looking forward to our Graduation ceremony on Sunday May 30th so that I can personally congratulate my Seniors.
I thank you for your collaboration, and remember Cobras are committed to quality Education!

The week back has been one of Sunshine, positivity, and "Push through the Whistle". Let's keep up the momentum for our final 8 weeks.

Spring blooms and so do butterflies! Students from Grade 6-9 have been working with watercolors drawing abstract and real life objects.
The halls of the Lower School are ever-changing with wonderful art displays curated by the famous Ms. Sekkat, known as "Ms. S" to the Lower School Artists.
These selections reflect the eclectic nature of the art program that allows students to practice various techniques while exploring Art History near and far: Kinder explores Moroccan identity in art via the works of Belkahia. Pre-first and first graders imply texture in their “Where the Wild Things Are” illustrations. In First and Second grade, the concept of perspective is explored in the spirit of Van Gogh. Sunrise: An Impression” by Monet inspired sponge-painted creations by Grade 2. Tints, Shades and printmaking techniques were employed to create abstract works by Grade 3. Contemporary Artist, Alexa Meade was the inspiration for unique collages by grade 4. Texture was essential to create relief abstract explorations by Grade 5.

Chama Chraibi, Class of 2012. Scroll right to see more pictures of her creations.
Chama graduated from CAS in 2012 and received her Bachelor's Degree in commerce from Concordia University with an exchange at Université de Nouvelle-Galles du Sud (UNSW Sydney). She later graduated from I.E University and received her Master's Degree in Digital Business. Prior to confinement, Chama worked as a financial analyst at Amazon in Paris.
During confinement, Chama has discovered her love for painting and has participated in Zyne's shoe design contest. All proceeds of the shoe sale were contributed to the association Amies des Ecoles.
Chama's distinctive minimalist style emanates fresh, vibrant energy with aesthetically pleasing strokes and curves. She uses the one-line drawing technique to simplify and represent the complex world around her in one single continuous line.
Particularly attracted by cubism and abstract expressionism, Chama’s obsession with lines and graphics is evident in her everyday life. She takes joy in experimenting with new techniques and learning by doing. When the school reached out to Chama to create this project she enthusiastically joined the cause and was ready to tackle this new challenge. It was her first mural!
Since Chama has continued to paint and create new collections collaborating with different people. You can find her beautiful vases at TO Concept store or yet again beautifully scented candles from Côté Bougie. She is currently exposing her art pieces at the Art Gallery ThemA where you will find her paintings using acrylics and mixed media on canvas and abstract wire sculptures.
We seek to share information on our Alumni to our community and it is also an opportunity for the Alumni to stay in touch! Please email us pictures and updates and we would be happy to share them!
We are eager to hear from you! Email us at the following email address: alumni@cas.ac.ma
