A Message from the PTC Team
Dear Community Members,
We'd like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to all of you! The phenomenal success of Halloween is a reflection of the ever increasing dedication and enthusiasm CAS volunteers' display on a continual basis. We appreciate your gift of time, energy, positive attitude and support! We are proud to belong to such a wonderful community that provides such a unique environment to our children. THANK YOU !!
It all happened at sunset! And we did it! Halloween at CAS was dark, eerie, and full of treats and strange sounds. We saw ghosts walking by, witches making their awful sounds while flying on their creepy brooms, and pumpkins full of light. And, "Anyone could see that the wind was a special wind this night, and the darkness took on a special feel because it was All Hallows' Eve." Ray Bradbury. It was a full house and we all enjoyed the Halloween CAS Spirit....
Our CAS students have been invited once again to the Cimetiere Ben M'Sik Sidi Othman in order to participate in the ceremonies honoring veterans on Monday, November 11th. We shall report on this occasion next week.
In celebration of Aid Al Mawlid, the birth of the prophet Mohamed, the school will be closed Monday, November 11th. We take this opportunity to wish our Muslim community a happy holiday.
We can never stress enough the importance of students' academic success, which remains our number 1 priority at CAS. It's a collaborative process that involves parents and teachers. Please ask, inquire, meet, and be informed about your child's progress, weaknesses and strengths . And that's what you all did during the parent-teacher conferences.
Thank you to all the parents who came and to our teachers who spent many hours conferencing.
Hiba Hansali, Ahmed Al-Saleh and Imane Sabil along with Mr. Sarhane paid a visit to the Moroccan Parliament in Rabat at the invitation of Gold Medalist, Nawal El Moutawakel, this past Monday as they are all interested in politics. They met several political leaders and spoke with the Minister of Finance. The meeting was interesting and the students will be sharing their experience soon.
Ms. Haroun has been working with Ms. Amani about the issues which we all face regarding ETS (Educational Testing Service) and their restrictions on SAT registration. You all will receive a message from Ms. Haroun and Ms. Amani about how to register and they will be holding help sessions for our students so they may register for the SAT. Ms. Amani has asked ETS for and has been authorized to add an additional 130 seats for the SAT for CAS students only!
On Thursday, November 7th, 2019, selected swimmers of the CAS Elite Swim Team will be headed to Tunis to compete at the MASAC Swim Competition at the American Cooperative School of Tunis.
Encourage your child (grades 7-11) to ask Mr Sourgo more about it!
As a school, we are growing fast. That also means traffic and parking have become a serious problem as we have very limited spaces in the front of the school. As grown ups though, we always must act civilly with everyone. We must be considerate when parking vehicles in the front of the school and no one should park in unauthorized areas. Please ask your children to be ready for you when you arrive and please move your vehicle along as soon as possible so others may pick up their children. These are our basic rules to respect:
No double parking in parking areas as this creates bottlenecks, chaos and upset parents and drivers in front of the school
No parking in front of the school gate
Drive slowly and cautiously and always be on the lookout for pedestrians especially children!
We rely on our parents to instruct their drivers about these simple rules as together we can reach our goal.
The 8th grade just showed off their mini-documentaries about Roman archeology at Chellah. Just before the break, Miss Wick and Mr Griffith took the 8th grade to Chellah to the Roman ruins at Chellah to bring their learning about the Roman empire to life. While there, students took a tour of the site, learned about the life of Ancient Romans and the attributes of a Roman city, and took videos and pictures for their documentaries. After a week of editing, adding commentary to their films, and follow-up discussions, the resulting documentaries were awesome!

All of the money has been collected and counted, and the results are in. We were super impressed with all of the classes, especially the little ones whom we've heard were breaking open their own piggy banks to donate! Thank you all for the support and making this fundraiser a success!

Science plays an important role in the modern world as it could be used as a means to changing attitudes, raising awareness and engaging communities in debates related to scientific issues especially climate change.
That is why November 10th is declared by UNESCO to be World Science Day for Peace and Development. It was celebrated for the first time in 2002.
"Science knows no country, because knowledge belongs to humanity, and is the torch which illuminates the world". Louis Pasteur
