Please stay safe and have a wonderful Winter break!
As we go into our February break, we would like to take this opportunity, especially due to the current Coronavirus threat, to remind everyone of the need to practice preventative health measures (the biggest includes washing hands) and to inform everyone of the preventative steps we have taken at CAS.
We have done our best to prevent the spread of germs here at school, which include;
1- increasing the frequency in cleaning desktops, railings, and doorknobs,
2- reminding students to wash their hands,
3- in class education from the school nurse,
4- an informative assembly by Dr. Farid Osman, 5- placing hand sanitizers in every classroom.
Our administration has considered how to keep our campus as germ free as possible upon the return from break. We have since learned that the airport and possibly the train station and ferry station are having disembarking passengers complete a medical questionnaire. Thus, we are foregoing that idea. We ask if your child begins to experience any symptoms of illness that you keep them home and immediately see a physician. Coronavirus symptoms include, but are not limited to fever, runny nose of green mucus, severe congestion, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Your help in doing this will contribute greatly to preventing the spread of germs.
Sincerely yours in education,
Admin Team
Following the visit of the Arabic consultant, Ms. Lamia Safieddine, to CAS who met with our Arabic Department, observed classes and spent time with our students, she presented a survey for CAS parents. We kindly ask you to follow the link and answer the questions before submitting.
Information about UK universities:
You can wait until you hear back from all your universities before replying to one offer. You must reply to your offers by May 1st.
As all your offers are conditional, you can accept one offer as your Firm Acceptance (often called CF choice) and a second offer as your Insurance Acceptance (often called CI choice). Please see me before accepting any offers.
If you meet the conditions of your Firm Acceptance, you MUST go there to study.
You MUST meet the conditional requirements in order to go there to study. Failure to get your IB Diploma or to get the score demanded in your conditional offer will likely result in you losing your place at that university. You might still get your place in your CI choice.
Once you receive all your offers, make sure you reply to all of them. If you don’t and ignore the UCAS reminders, you will be “declined by default” and lose your offers.
Information about US universities:
You must reply to your offers by May 1st. Please see me before accepting any offers.
While your admissions offer is not conditional, you must keep your grades up and earn good grades in your IB exams. Failure to get your IB Diploma will likely result in you losing your place at that university. Failure to keep your grades up in trimester 2 and 3 might lead to a change in your admissions offer.
Information about universities in Canada and in Europe:
Check your letter of admission to see when the deadline to respond is. Please see me before accepting any offers.
You MUST meet the conditional requirements in order to go there to study. Failure to get your IB Diploma or to get the score demanded in your conditional offer will likely result in you losing your place at that university.
General information:
While each university has different admission requirements, you should aim for 5s or above in each class. Some safety universities might accept you with 4s, but most of them would not if you have grades lower than a 3.
Finally, this is now time for you to focus on your studies and earn the highest grades possible in your classes and your IB exams. Complete your work on time and do not hesitate to ask for help if need be.
On Thursday morning, we brought all unclaimed lost and found objects and donated items to the Association Marocaine Sport & Developpement. All of the collected donations will be driven to the Commune Taouma on Saturday February 29th by Nawal Moutawakil and her association.
Thank you to all the parents who have donated clothes, toys and other goods for this charity drive.

We are instituting several security measures at CAS and one of them is to be able to quickly identify all automobiles driving around and parking near the school as in fact belonging to either a CAS parent or employee. Last week, we informed parents that the school would be creating "Car Stickers" for all CAS parent owned and employee owned vehicles that drive up to school or park for pick up and drop off. All of these vehicles MUST have a sticker on their windshield. We kindly ask you to pick your's up at the Director's office starting March 9th. CAS Parents will have red stickers and Employees blue. The stickers need to be placed in the upper corner of the front windshield on the passenger side of the vehicle. This will permit easy identification whether your vehicle is moving or parked. Do let us know how many vehicles you own so that we may provide you with sufficient windshiel stickers.

Congratulations to our Cobra athletic teams on their games against George Washington Academy this week. The boys JV soccer team played GWA at CAS and controlled the match, winning 5-0. The 6-8th grade basketball teams traveled on Tuesday to GWA. The girls played their best and closest game of the season and challenged GWA well into the 4th quarter. The boys’ team overcame turnovers and cold shooting to record a narrow victory. The matches were great experiences for all teams as they get closer and closer to the MASAC tournaments! Way to go Cobras! I would like to thank our basketball and soccer coaches for all the extra time and effort they have put into coaching our teams this year. Their patience, persistence, guidance and belief in the group made us the team we are today.
As usual, CAS will be hosting the 2020 Grade 6, 7 and 8 boys and girls basketball tournament. The tournament will be on Saturday, March 7, 2020. We hope that this will be another opportunity for our boys and girls to meet in an atmosphere of fun and good sportsmanship.
Hope to see you all there!
