Dear Community Members,
Next week we shall be starting school once again with the hope that we will be able to keep our students on campus for as long as we can. This will only be possible if we maintain our efforts together as an extended family to ensure we remain as free of COVID as possible. We understand that it has been hard for students and teachers to participate in distance learning as it cannot replace Face-To-Face interactions and it has been disruptive to parents as well. As always, we shall ensure that the sanitary protocols and measures that we have put into place will remain in place. We also ask parents to pay close attention to their child’s social life by reducing gatherings, parties and birthdays, etc… We also count on our parents to keep their child/ children at home if they exhibit any signs of COVID and to have them tested to be on the safe side should they appear to be sick and to inform the School Nurse immediately should they test positive.
Antigenic Testing:
Kindly be informed that on Friday, January 28th, we shall be conducting Antigenic testing in school for our Nursery through Pre-First and our Grade 11 and 12 students. On Saturday, January 29th, we shall be conducting a Drive-By Testing session at school for all First through Grade Ten students and instructional staff. The Drive-By Testing schedule will be shared with all parents in due course. Any student, for faculty member who is notified that they tested positive on Saturday, may not come to school on Monday morning. According to our local health authorities, isolation lasts for 7 days. Upon return, the student, staff member, shall provide a negative antigenic test to be able to come on campus.
We are the only institution in the country which has initiated this type of testing and the only one that administers antigenic tests every 2 weeks and we have been pleased with the results of our actions!
Wednesday, February 2nd:
Because we have been out for the past two weeks, please note that, Wednesday, February 2nd, originally marked as half-day for students, will now be a Full-Day with the exception of our Preschool students who normally leave at 12:00.
Art Cantine Services:
We would like to inform our parents that the services of Art Cantine, our caterer, have been suspended and that the Cafeteria is closed. In this regard, we ask all parents to send a lunch with their child/ children starting from Monday, January 31st until further notice.
Easing Traffic at the front rear:
We extend our appreciation to our Board President, Mr. Omar Laafoura, for his suggestion and collaboration with our Board Vice President, Mr. Rachid Chaoui, to open up the median in front of the school so that we can receive more than one car at a time for drop off and pick up and to our Vice-President for the architectural work and providing the equipment and workers to effect the change. This process involved preparing an administrative file for our local authorities to obtain the authorization to execute the project. Thank you to all parties involved!
Ordinary General Assembly, January 26th:
As communicated by our Board President, the virtual Ordinary General Assembly will take place today at 6:30 pm. This is the 2nd call to vote agenda matters previously communicated. I personally would like to thank our Board of Governors for their attention to the many issues we face as a school especially during this pandemic. Please plan to virtually attend the OGA to show your support and your involvement.
Pass Vaccinal and Massar Code:
For the last three months, many US parents have informed us that up-to-now, they have been unable to download their child’s Pass Vaccinal. We have been in constant contact with our local authorities to resolve this issue. Hopefully, with the help of our Board and our governmental partners, this issue will be resolved soon. We thank you all for your patience and understanding.
For those parents who have children aged 5 through 12 years old, we have contacted the local authorities to inquire if vaccines will be available for this age group. As of now, they are still not available. We will keep you informed once the vaccines are available.
Condolences:
We would like to present our sincere condolences to some community members who recently lost a beloved one:
Ms. Amina Alami, the US Principal Assistant, for the loss of her father
Ms. Nadia Amir, the PreSchool Assistant for the loss of her father
Our condolences also go to the Sentissi family for the loss of Mr. Sentissi, (father of Ali who passed away some years ago).
Our thoughts are with all these families. It’s never easy to lose anyone whom one holds dear to their heart!
Happy note:
Congratulations to our LS librarian, Ms. Bouchra Daifi, for her new born, Ghali. We are happy to report that both mother and child are doing fine.
We also congratulate our IB English teacher, Mr. Robert Money, for his daughter’s recent marriage. Rob, you will have to tell us how it feels to give one’s child’s away.
Finally, our community is a very dedicated, warm and sincere one. A school without eager students to learn, say good morning to their principals before the sun rises each morning and goodbye in the afternoon is simply not CAS. We are not an ordinary school. We are CAS, home of the Cobras. Cobras know what it takes to be exceptional and unique in every form of the word.
Thank you Cobra students, Cobra Staff and Cobra parents.
School Director
I'm thrilled that Grade 11 and 12 IB students are back on campus as of this week. What a pleasure to welcome them back in their CAS uniforms.
Teachers , in the US division, have been diligently offering very satisfying online courses. As Mr. Randolph has said in his message, nothing can replace face-to-face interactions. Our most important message to the US students and parents like wise is to make sure we become not only a free-covid institution, but also a healthy institution. Mr. Lydon, what do you advise the students in the US division to bring for lunch to stay healthy?
IB mock exams will start February 3rd and will finish February 11th. The purpose of these exams is to prepare the students for the IB exams that will take place in May.
Hopefully, the antigenic tests on Saturday will all be negative so that we can welcome back the rest of the US students on Monday, January 31st.
Thank you parents and US Faculty for your usual support. Your suggestions and feedback are essential to the success of our Cobras.

Thank you to students, parents, and LS staff as we navigated two weeks of Distance Learning! Everyone was ROCKSTARS, transitioning into it relatively seamlessly, remaining focused on learning!
Our Preschool was able to continue on campus and thank you to staff for maintaining continuity of learning for our youngest scholars!
Don't forget about Drive-Thru testing for Grades 1-6 this Saturday. A more detailed communication has been sent to parents about the testing schedule as well as other announcements and reminders. If you didn't receive it, check your SPAM folder.
With the return of face to face learning on Monday, January 31, we will resume our typical gate assignments for arrival and dismissal. Nursery and Kinder will continue to use the Front Gate. Prefirst-G6 will use the Back Gate.
I can't wait to see everyone on Monday!

At CAS, we have started processing admission applications for the 2022-2023 school year. Screening dates for Nursery and Kindergarten applicants will be shared shortly. It is our pleasure to inform our community, as well, that some expatriate applicants have already been accepted in our Upper School Division.
The home of the Cobras is also the home of the Cobras' siblings. Therefore, please start the Admission process for 2022-2023 as soon as possible to secure a seat for your Cobra-To-Be Child provided all Admissions Criteria are met.
Thank you for your interest and feel free to contact me at speters@cas.ac.ma with questions about the admissions process.
