With Winter Break upon us and, as we say good bye to 2019 and welcome in 2020, we would like to take this opportunity to reflect on the year that is coming to an close and especially note some points that have been of major importance to us:
Since the beginning of the year, we have not only discussed but exposed the level of Bullying that has been occurring and it has been a subject we have addressed countless times with our students and community and we will keep on addressing it in the next trimesters to come until we reach Zero harassment in all its forms.
At CAS, our students are passionate about their engagements and their commitments to others outside the school walls. So far, the Student Council, People to People, National Honor Society, Junior Core Africa, among others, have raised and collected considerable amounts of donations for multiple charities and associations. We are most proud of our young advocates, and we will keep encouraging them in their Humanitarian efforts.
Indeed it takes a huge commitment to be who we are and to reach where we have arrived presently. One of the most important ingredients to achieve this goal is our parents' presence in their children’s academic and social life, to celebrate their achievements and strengths and to improve their weaknesses and their skills. Our athletic Department has been enhanced this trimester with the many trophies it has been harvesting and the ASA program is attracting more and more students.
These are just some points we wanted to share once again with you. 2020 is already overbooked with the visit, in January of Ms. Lamiae Safieddine-Delapierre who will spend a week with the Arabic teachers as a consultant , Chris Roose who will audit us on our security plans and measures and provide us with some guidelines, the OGA during which we will have time to discuss at length our achievements and our areas of improvements, and finally the visit of Astronaut, Ricky Arnold, in March.
Finally, as we extend our best wishes for a Merry Christmas to our Christian staff and members of our community and a Happy New Year to everyone, please note our Admissions have started and, if you know of any parents who would be a great fit to our school, please encourage them to deposit their applications as early as possible in January to secure a seat for their children.
Have an enjoyable winter break and we are looking forward to continuing our journey together with all of you in 2020.
Thank you to the Parent Teacher Committee for the breakfast in appreciation to our teachers. You baked home goods, brought in special flavored coffee , went the extra mile and created thoughtful mugs... THANK YOU for all for the kindness you extend to our teachers!
We are displaying the Lost and Found in the hall next to the Gym today and tomorrow. Please come and look for your child's lost items as there are some expensive articles that have been found. We also would like to discourage parents from sending their children to school with expensive jewelry or accessories to reduce their loss. Please label all of your children's clothing with their names- especially removable items such as sweaters and jackets. It is truly a pity for us to pick up countless backpacks, articles of clothing and other personal effects everyday which no one comes to claim and these articles are then stored until we have the opportunity to display them.
CAS will be hosting a chess tournament in collaboration with the Casablanca Chess Academy on Saturday, January 11, from 9h00 to 13h00. The tournament will include students from American Academy, George Washington Academy, Casablanca Chess Academy, and CAS students who are enrolled in the chess activity after school.
Parents are welcome to come and support our young chess Cobras.
Ms. Hala and Ms. Fatiha
ASA Coordinators
Bravo to our young organizers who have been able to fundraise more than 66,000 dhs for the association SOS Village! We were proud to host Ali Kettani from the Voice Kids who shared his talent with our entire community.
Our students with their teachers attended the MUN conference that recently took place in Tangiers. The subject discussed at the conference was of great importance and it mainly concerned Maritime Law.
Again, we are proud of our Global Cobras.
Chris Roose, a security consultant, will be visiting CAS January 13th through January 17th. We are actually working on the schedule as he will be holding meetings with parents, students and staff to discuss security measures at school, and security measures during a crisis. Here is a short Bio on Chris:
Chris is a part-time school security consultant referred to by the US Department of State. He is a full time US Government employee and many international schools contact him privately for security advice. As a result of his overseas US Government assignments, one of his sons graduated from the American school of Madrid and the other from the American school of Kuwait.
We have sent an email announcing the Ordinary General Assembly that will take place, Tuesday, January 14th, at 6:30 pm in the Anne Osman Theater. Please mark your calendar and join us to vote on the different items mentioned in the Agenda. Proxies are due to the Director's Office, Monday January 6th.
We wish to thank all the parents who turned in their signed photograph/video consent forms that will allow us to photograph or video, publish and share pictures, anecdotes and the great happenings that take place every day at CAS. Hard copies of the permission form are also available in the Director's office. So please stop by to say Hi and sign the form. If for some reason, you would rather not have your child/ren's pictures on our Social walls, we will make sure this is respected, but we need to be informed in writing first.
