It's with great sadness that we inform our community that Mr. Azbane, grand father to Rita Bennani (Grade 7), Lamia and Lilia Azbane (Grade 6), and Sofia Azbane (Grade 4) passed away last week from COVID-19. This disease has cut short the lives of many of the senior members of our community and many CAS families have been impacted by this pandemic. We present our sincere condolences to the Azbane and Bennani family.
Looking ahead to conducting school in August, we at CAS want to be as proactive as possible. Therefore, as a preventive measure and in preparation for potential COVID-19 outbreaks, CAS is taking some serious measures to counteract this continued threat. It is clear that we as a society will not be able to assume a normal life in future unless and until a vaccine is invented and everyone on this planet is inoculated.
The School is looking at the possibility to make masks mandatory in the fall of 2020 with the beginning of the school year if the virus persists. For this, we will count on every parent to help, assist and abide by this rule if we have to apply it. Guidelines and details will be shared with parents and students.
The School is looking at the possibility to purchasing masks and storing them on site for distribution to our community. A survey will be sent in due course to your attention for feedback and also to let us know if your child/ children perhaps will be bringing their own masks or if you wish the school to provide these against a fee that will be taken from an Emergency fee fund that we are building.
Our parents are our first partners and since we are here to support each other, we would prefer to reach out and do business with members of our CAS community first during this crisis. So, if you have a textile company and are capable of manufacturing Ministry of Health approved masks, or if you are an owner of a business for sanitary materials or any other material that will help us fight the corona virus, please send me an email at: jrandolph@cas.ac.ma.
Any visitor coming into school will only be permitted to enter provided certain criteria are met: wearing of masks, using hand sanitizers and filling out of a form that will be available at the security gate.
As we closely monitor and apply what the Moroccan Authorities have mandated, we will keep informing you of any update that will impact Education at CAS or the possible re-opening of the school.
We kindly ask that you affirm your intent to re-enroll your child/ren at CAS for the 2020-2021. This information is crucial as we are working on staffing and placement projections for the year to come. We would appreciate your completing the form, hereafter, and emailing it to Ms. Samira Peters, CAS Admissions Manager at speters@cas.ac.ma, no later than May 15th. The form also includes any siblings whom you intend to enroll at CAS for 2020/21.
As the end of the school year is approaching and with the uncertainty of schools in Morocco remaining closed, we are planning how we shall clear all of our CAS students under the present circumstances. If the school re-opens, this action will take place on school grounds as in the past. If it does not, we will send out a form electronically with guidelines for students to follow. We will update you as things become clearer.
Special thanks go our School Counselor Ms. Meryem Bousfiha and to our learning Specialist Mr. Chris Guttridge for the sessions they have been holding during this crisis with our students each day at 3:00 pm. Reach out to them if you feel the need at their respective emails: mbousfiha@cas.ac.ma and cguttridge@cas.ac.ma
With the COVID-19 pandemic still looming, it is unfortunate that we will have to alter our plans for both our Seniors' Graduation as well as Grade 6 this year. If the school remains closed and the authorities continue the mandate on limits of numbers permitted at social gatherings, we shall be obligated to change the format of these important events. We shall keep everyone informed on our plans going forward.
This will be the EVENT of the year. Our CAS students do not have to be rocket stars, but they will for sure be our best allies for the conception of a video that will go viral, as together we face challenges brought upon us by COVID-19. We challenge each of them to keep our CAS spirit alive and prove, once again, that we are who we are; Cobras that despite the distance that separates us, we can share amazing moments online. Watch out for details in the next editions to come.
As some of you have expressed their desire to show appreciation towards our dedicated teaching staff, please reach out to our Communication and Marketing Manager, Ms. Fatiha Sajid, at fsajid@cas.ac.ma or my administrative assistant, Ms. Halima Mounbahij, at hsarhane@cas.ac.ma for coordination.
We sincerely thank everyone in our community who have exhibited compassion and magnanimity towards our Support Staff. Should you want to participate in our annual Ramadan Food Drive, please find below the school bank account number for your donations:

Seniors - May 2020 examination: With 374 files submitted as of today, we are almost done with uploading the examination components. Let's encourage, all of us, our grade 12 Theater students to finalize their exams for this subject too. As the IB organization has not changed the structure of their exams, it takes a little longer than expected to complete them. However, the IB agreed to offer us an extension so we are confident everything will be well finalized.
Seniors - Sending results to University: As part of the services offered by IB, a maximum of six institutions worldwide can be selected (via the IB DP Coordinator) for free to send your IB results directly by IB, regardless of whether the results are to be sent in electronic or paper format. Of these six, no more than three institutions can be selected from Canada and the USA (of these three, only one for the USA). If you wish this service, please let me know before June 10th, 2020. For any additional request, you must submit it directly to IB via their public website at https://www.ibo.org/programmes/diploma-programme/assessment-and-exams/requesting-transcripts/.
IB1 students: The IB Deadlines calendar for 2020-2021 will be published soon. Please make sure you will have all those deadlines always available and, from the moment you have them, keep them in your thoughts. We used to run part of the exams at the end of IB1 but, under the current circumstances, this will not be possible. As such, your next school year will be one which you will need to focus a lot. I do follow the current feedback from your teachers and I know some of you are not performing at the required level of an IB student. This is a pity and if this persists it will certainly affect your Diploma programme, as well as the registration to sit for the IB Diploma exams. We may be forced to change your status from a Full Diploma Candidate to an IB Course Certificate Candidate if you constantly miss your classes, fail your courses, and/or do not complete the required work. I sincerely hope this won't be the case and soon I'll be expecting to read in the teachers' feedback that you are well focused and performing up to expectations.
Grade 10 students: After some unfortunate delay, I will be ready to meet each one of you online and, when it's possible, your parents too, in order to finalize your enrollment for the IB courses next year. I'll send out later today or no later than tomorrow a sign-up sheet for the meetings. Please be prepared for an open discussion understanding that the enrollment to any course is subject to approval based on your teacher's recommendation and your previous grades in the subject. You may need to reconsider the Universities where you want to apply or the field that you wish to study after CAS based on the courses that you are permitted to take. As such, I recommend to you again to be in constant contact with our college counselor, Ms. Rana Haroun for advice.
Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, admissions for 2020/21 have actively continued at CAS since the beginning of this year. It is our pleasure to inform our community that many prospective students have applied to CAS and that some have been accepted after tests or observations have been conducted. If you know of relatives, friends or other interested families who would like to attend our institution, please contact, Ms. Samira Peters, at the Admissions Office at: speters@cas.ac.ma

The organization “Strive Scan” is organizing a virtual university fair on the week of Monday, April 20th, to Friday, May 8th. Universities from all around the world will be presenting their institution. This fair is very informative for grade 11 students who are currently choosing which universities they want to apply to next year. I highly recommend that you go on their website, look at the universities you are interested in, and sign up for the conferences. Parents are encouraged to attend with their students.

Dear students and parents,
Please read this email carefully for information about the SAT. Given that the May SAT has been canceled, the College Board is offering the following SAT dates in the Fall: August 29, September 26, and October 3.
All juniors must register for the August 29 SAT. By doing so, students will still be able to apply to university early, which increases the chances of admissions (if accompanied by a strong academic record). Remember that the SAT is not only a way to get admitted to universities, it is also a way to receive merit-based scholarships to universities, scholarships that can cover up to 100% of the costs of studies.
Students MUST study in order to prepare for the SAT. In order to support you, I am sharing with you an SAT Study Guide, which should help you, in 16 weeks, to prepare for the SAT. This means that you want to start studying for the SAT during the first week of May.
==> SAT STUDY GUIDE <==
Registration for the 2020-21 SAT administrations will open the week of May 26. To register, please read the SAT REGISTRATION INSTRUCTION.

Dear seniors,
At this time, all of you are starting to enroll in your universities. Remember that the universities will need 1. Your Final Transcript, and 2. Your IB Results.
Regarding your IB Results, Ms. Zamfirescu has sent you instructions on how to send these results to your universities. As for your final transcript, you must request it on BridgeU.
Steps:
1. Log in to BridgeU, go to "Universities," then "Applications."
2. Choose the university you are enrolling in:
For U.K. Universities: select 1. "Mark Sent" 2. "Conditional/Unconditional" and 3. "Firm Acceptance/Insurance Acceptance"
For all other Universities: select 1. "Mark Sent" 2. "Accepted," and 3. "Attending."
3. By completing the previous step, I will know which university to send your final transcript to.
Please also update the admissions results for the universities you will not be enrolling in.
