Dear Community Members,
Welcome again to another edition of the What’s Up Cobras!
This year is a special year for the Casablanca American School as we are celebrating its 50th anniversary. Again, please remember to mark your calendar for May 27th to celebrate the history of CAS with us. More info will be shared as we approach this special date.
Mr. Omar Laafoura, President of CorpsAfrica and our Board of Governors President, was interviewed by 2M Evening News last Friday. He presented the CorpsAfrica, its beginning in Africa, its goals and other related matters. To know more about CorpsAfrica, please follow the link to Mr. Laafoura’s Interview: Corps Africa Maroc
CorpsAfrica organization has indeed promising global aims for any student aspiring to make changes in the World. It is worth mentioning that Casablanca American School has been entertaining a valuable relationship with CorpsAfrica since 2015.
How wonderful it is to have one of our alumni leading by example!
As most of you know, we are accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges NEASC and have been since 1993. Since then, we have had many visits from NEASC to reaffirm our status as an accredited educational institution. “NEASC partners with schools to assess, support, and promote high quality education for all students through accreditation, professional assistance, and pursuit of best practices.” The next Accreditation visit will take place at the beginning of March to assess, recommend and hopefully commend our school on the best implemented practices. During this visit, the visiting team will hold meetings with students, Staff and Board of Governors and other stakeholders. We will keep you posted.
Thank you to Dr. Melissa Mitchem, our Social Studies IB Teacher, Department Head and People-To-People Advisor, for organizing the Blood Drive this past Saturday, January 28,th from 8:00 am to 14:00. We hope to see more people donating this precious life source during the next campaign. Thanks to our staff and our caring US students for their thoughtful participation, planning, campaigning, and doing their best to get as many participants as possible.
As we use the school Instagram, Facebook and the School Newsletter The What’s Up Cobras, to share with our Community Members school events, please let us know if you would rather not have your picture published on our Social Media Platforms.
Last, but not least, congratulations to Lotfi Jeljalane, our US Physical Education Teacher, for the birth of his son Ali Victor and Ali Chahid, our LS Arabic teacher, for the new family addition, Siraj Mounir.
Congratulations again and remember; Every son's first superhero is his father!
Have a great weekend
Sincerely,
John Randolph
In the last edition, we have featured People To People. We are proud of our Upper School students as they show their involvement through the different clubs and committees that they have formed this year. All these young men and women are true ambassadors in the field they are representing. In this edition, I would like to feature the Upper School Student Council:
The purpose of the CAS Student Council shall be to “give students the opportunity to participate in various activities of school life, and serve as a sounding board for the expression of student opinions and provide opportunities for training in democratic processes”
Thank you to Ms. Sabina Sitoianu, the SC advisor, and keep up the great CAS Spirit Student Council Members:
Sofia Ziane: President
Ryan Boukaa: Vice-President
Hamza Lebbar: Treasurer
Abla Mounir: Secretary
Malak Louimine: PR
Wiaam Aichour: Activities Coordinator

It sure is nice to return to campus and feel all the Lower School love! It felt like coming home! The Senior Leadership has been away at the Search Associate recruitment fair in Cambridge. I want to give a loud and proud shout out to the Lower School students and staff for smooth operation while I was off campus. I especially want to acknowledge the Lower School Coordinators- Dana Baran, Jillian Bruton, and Meghan Lydon for their leadership in my absence!
Student Led Conferences are Wednesday, February 8. You should have signed up or been assigned a time. Your children have been preparing to showcase their learning. We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday!
Have a restful weekend

Hi. My name is Zaineb. I'm in Grade 9 and this is my first year at CAS. Before joining CAS, I was at the British School. CAS Educational System is harder and stricter, and Education is taken more seriously. What I like more about CAS is that parents are informed about their children's progress in a timely fashion so that help or adjustments can be made before report cards are sent home.
Socially, it was hard at the beginning. But students and teachers welcomed me from day one.
My advice: Don't get into troubles at CAS.
Please follow Mazagan Resort Rates 2023 to view the special offer granted to CAS Families and Staff in terms of 2023.

LS Robotics ASA group will participate in the First Lego Competition this Saturday, February 4, at Lycee Francais Guy de Maupassant, from 8:00AM to 6:00PM. Our students will be accompanied by Robin Webster who has been assisting them alongside Play & More Academy (external hire company for LS Robotics ASA). Parents and guardians are also welcome to attend this event
We are happy to announce that no Covid cases have been registered among our students or our staff. Nevertheless, since it's the flu season, we advise our parents to remain diligent to reduce the risk of catching the Flu. Healthy habits and simple gestures such as avoiding people who are sick, frequently washing hands, covering mouth and nose when sneezing, eating healthy, and staying home when sick can reduce the spread of germs.

Multilingual Story Night
Last week, the Family Outreach Committee and EAL department hosted a magical "Multilingual Story Night" for Preschool and Lower school students and their families. They enjoyed our World Cafe, where they traveled and explored how our many languages connect through storytelling. Thank you to all families who joined.
Thank you for your donation of the English and French books to our Lower School Library. We were thrilled to receive them. Your Generosity is much appreciated. The books are an excellent addition to our collection.

Dear CAS Community,
Admission season is getting off on a good start. Thank you to all that have recommended our school to their friends and families. You are our best ambassadors!
We also kindly remind those of you that plan on applying for their younger children to do so as early as Nursery, as seats become sparse after that grade.
