Dear Community Members,
Welcome to this Edition of the What’s Up Cobras.
As usual, we have a great deal of news to share with you.
I’m happy and thrilled to announce that Fatiha Sajid will be the lead coordinator for the 50th Anniversary Committee. Although Fatiha relocated to Nice last year, I had asked her prior to her departure to take a major role in this celebration. It is an enormous undertaking, however, I’m sure she will carry out efficiently and effectively as she has proven time and time again. Thank you, Fatiha, for graciously sacrificing your time and your family's time to make this event as memorable as it promises to be. I also take this opportunity to thank all of the 50th anniversary Committee members who have been working diligently along with Fatiha.
Once again, please save the date of May 27th as we promise an evening full of surprises, events and great entertainment as past, present and new CAS Community Members cherish this special evening together.
Please be reminded that CAS uniforms are required dress for our students unless otherwise informed. Those who come to school without the proper school attire will not be permitted to attend class!
Have a great February Break and see you again, Monday, March 6th for another stretch of the year!
Sincerely,
John J. Randolph
There are many things happening upon return from break. Literacy Week is the week of March 6. It includes literacy themed dress up days, a guest author, Book Fair, reading contests, D.E.A.R, and Character Parade. Please see the fliers sent via your child's teacher as well as the social media posts. Also don't forget Family Math Night on March 14.
On behalf of all Lower School staff I wish all families a safe and happy February Break! May you all use this time to reflect, recharge, and relax.
Have a restful Winter Break

In the last edition, we have featured Young Engineers Club. We are proud of our Upper School students and teachers as they show their involvement through the different clubs and committees that they have formed this year. All these young men and women are true ambassadors in the field they are representing. In this edition, I would like to feature the PSAT/SAT MATH Preparation
The purpose of these classes is to strengthen students’ overall math abilities so that they can perform better on the PSAT and SAT. This, in turn, will make them more competitive for Summer Programs and College Acceptances/Scholarships.
The classes are for any 9th or 10th Grade student and will cap at 20 students. Placement is First Come-First Served.
Tank you to Mr. Randy January, the US Math Teacher for organizing and offering these classes.

US Principal
Dear CAS Community,
I am pleased to report that the "Developing a Shared Understanding of High-Quality Learning" workshop held this week was a tremendous success. I want to express my heartfelt appreciation to all of the faculty members who participated and contributed to the lively discussions during the event.
The faculty's enthusiasm and engagement during the workshop were remarkable, and their contributions were valuable and thought-provoking. Ms. Diane Ullman, our NEASC Consultant, who attended the workshop, shared her feedback, and according to her, the quality of faculty interactions and input was impressive. She also stated that the CAS faculty is the best group she has worked with so far. This feedback is a testament to the faculty's hard work and dedication toward creating a shared understanding of high-quality learning.
It was evident that the faculty has a deep commitment to providing the best possible learning experiences for our students. Their insightful comments and perspectives were enlightening and will undoubtedly contribute to our ongoing efforts to improve our teaching practices and enhance student learning.
I would like to thank each and every faculty member for their exceptional work at the workshop. Their engagement and collaboration are greatly appreciated, and I look forward to continuing our work together to provide high-quality learning experiences for our students.
Once again, thank you for the fantastic work done by the faculty members.
Sincerely,
Abderrazak Behhar

The goal of the event is to demonstrate how math is taught at CAS.
Hello! My name is Zaineb Sajid, CAS Alumnus Class of 1997. I studied psychology at Virginia Tech and came back to work as the guidance counselor at CAS from 2000 to 2006. I went on to work in a fashion magazine for two years before settling into a career in interior design for the last fifteen years. I have done residential and commercial projects in Morocco and outside of Morocco, among some of them are the café les Freres Gourmets and the George Washington Academy Library. Last year I developed my own interior design furniture line called Le Trait Noir.
I am thrilled to be back at CAS as the admissions Officer. It feels like coming back home.
