Dear Parents, Staff, students and Friends of CAS:
This is our last What’s Up Cobras for the 2022-2023 school year and today, June 16th, was our students and faculty’s last day.
We wish you a happy summer and a restful Break with your lovely families and friends. I also would like to take this opportunity to wish our Muslim Community a happy Eid Al Kabir, happening at the end of this month.
These last weeks have been very busy with many happenings, the 50th Gala Celebration, our Grade Twelve Graduation, Grade 6 Promotion, Fun Days, LS Concerts and Awards Ceremonies for both LS and the US. What a wonderful way to end the year!
As we say goodbye to some departing families and staff over these coming days, we would like to wish them the best of luck with their endeavors. They will be dearly missed!
As we noted in our last version of the What's Up Cobras where we mentioned those who contributed to our Scholarship Fund, we also would like to extend our warmest appreciation to Mr. and Mrs. Akhannouch for their generous contributions towards the CAS Scholarship Fund. Kudos to Mr. and Mrs. Mohemmane (Parents of Meriem in Grade 10) for their considerable donation towards the Gala.
This summer, the school will be undergoing some physical changes, starting with the school entrance, Finance wing, beginning work on the ground floor of the Upper School, the Library and the Pre-School building so be prepared to see these changes when you return in August!
On behalf of the Board of Governors, thank you to all those who attended the Ordinary General Assembly on Wednesday during which all items on the agenda were approved by the Association members present. Your suggestions and feedback are always much appreciated. .
I would like again to thank all Committees and the Board of Governors for the endless hours they have spent working, consulting, advising and assisting the school.
Finally, We want to inform our community that as of the beginning of the 2023/24 school year on Wednesday, August 23rd, all students will be prohibited from bringing cell phones on campus. There have been countless violations of cell phone use by students here at school throughout the year and, therefore, we are obligated to ban them from our campus. Unauthorized video and audio recordings as well as unauthorized photographing by students have forced us to come to this decision.
We shall develop a Cell Phone use policy and the consequences of violating this policy when we begin school on August 23rd. This policy will be shared with all students, parents and staff.
Have a great Holiday and see you in August, batteries recharged!
Sincerely,
John J. Randolph
School Director

Dear Students and Families,
As we wind down the year, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our Graduating Class of 2023. I was sincerely mesmerized by the immense academic and social growth they have displayed on June 3rd. Congratulations to all the Seniors. Congratulations to Shreeshee Agarwal and Jacob Lydon the two Salutatorian students of class 2023. Congratulations to Alia Kafil, the Valedictorian student of Class 2023.
For your information, the Valedictorian title is given to the student with the highest ranking among the graduating class while the title of Salutatorian is given to the 2nd highest-ranking student in a graduating class. It was our honor to reward these high achievers and top students.
Alia, Jacob and Shreeshee, your speeches were simply stunning, breathtaking, genuine, and full of beautiful message we are not ready to forget!
Congratulations again class of 2023! At the end of the day, embarking to embrace new horizons, full of promises is our goal for these young men and women and we are proud of them!
A week later, exactly on June 10th, we celebrated 57 Grade 6 students who were promoted to Upper School. I wish them all the best and can’t wait to see them in the US division in August!
Pictures and videos of both ceremonies will be shared in due course!
Today, we held our Award Assembly, and I congratulate again all the students for their efforts and achievements.
I would like to conclude my message by adding that our school is UNIQUE; the passion and strength within our community makes it really the Home of the Cobras! Thanks to you all, we will keep improving, learning, teaching, and moving forward.
Until we meet again in August, have a wonderful summer vacation.

10th grade art students completed self-portraits in acrylic for their final projects. They practiced using simple shapes composed of a variety of values and colors to create their portraits. They also applied the color theory in-depth as they were restricted to 4 colors: red, yellow, blue, and white. They produced excellent pieces and proved that a realistic image is just a combination of the right shapes and colors in the right place! Featured artists: Mia Benmoussa, Sarah Spiral, Lilya Ouhadry, and Amine Ryadi.

The Science Fair, which was held on June 12th in the school gymnasium , was a fantastic demonstration of creativity, curiosity, and scientific ability. Our young scientist, eager to discover the wonders of science, came together at the event. The event featured a wide variety of scientific fields, and the students passionately presented their projects, showcasing a full spectrum of ideas and meticulous research to peers, teachers and parents. It was heartening to witness the enthusiasm and confidence of our young scientists as they eloquently explained complex concepts and defended their research findings. The effort and commitment of our budding scientists, as well as the invaluable advice of their supportive teachers, are responsible for the science fair's success

This year, our seniors continued to thrive and worked hard in the International Baccalaureate program. As a result, the class of 2023 successfully received 262 university admission offers so far. Our students were admitted to a total of 132 universities in 11 countries: U.S.A., Canada, the U.K., Australia, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, and Switzerland. In addition, 19 students received scholarships totaling $3,641,800. Our Cobras also succeeded in being admitted to a number of Ivy Leagues, such as Barnard College and Columbia University, and other highly selective universities, such as New York University, the University of Chicago, and the University of California Berkeley.
The Class of 2023 worked hard this year to achieve success, and we could not be prouder of them! The CAS community looks forward to watching their success as they pursue their higher education degree next year.

While studying compassion, a Choose Love theme, students in 4th grade decided they wanted to find a way to give back to their community. They wanted to help children less fortunate than themselves and chose to raise money for the Lalla Hasna Orphanage. They decided to write a book of short stories and pictures centered around the Choose Love themes: Courage, Gratitude, Forgiveness and Compassion. We are proud to have exceeded our goal of raising over 7,000 dirhams to donate. Thank you to everyone who supported us in our sale at the back gate and in spreading the Choose Love messages.

Dear Parents,
Summer is a lot of fun, however, Summer Reading is also very important for maintaining a child's current grade-level skills and pushing forward to develop skills above the current grade level. We are highly encouraging students to keep reading during the summer.
Show us that you are reading by sending us a picture of you reading wherever you are at bdaifi@cas.ac.ma.
We hope that you will encourage your child to read over the summer, reading with your child and in their presence is a powerful model that can last a lifetime.
Have a wonderful and safe Summer Holiday!
