Upper School and Lower School students have each taken steps this past month in regards to raising awareness for Breast Cancer. On Monday, Latifa Cherif, from Les Amis du Ruban Rose, joined the Upper School assembly to help raise awareness. Several seniors and juniors collaborated and joined efforts to create PINK t-shirts that were sold for the cause. Today, the entire school dressed in Pink and, at the end of the fire drill, we created the human pink ribbon to bring a CAS focus to Pinktober.
We appreciate all of our CAS family members who participated in helping us raise awareness. A special THANK YOU to the Y a Pas Photo team and to our wonderful supportive mom, Lina Tazi, for helping us create this beautiful image.
The rainy season has begun and it is time to open closets and drawers and get out our warm clothes. It is also the time when we can easily contact the flu. In this regard, our Nurse's Office has been proactive in addressing this illness and has sent out permission slips to parents who would like their children to be vaccinated right here at school. The Nurse, along with local doctors, will be vaccinating our students and some adults and this will take place Saturday, November 2nd, 2019. If you are still interested in taking advantage of this prevention measure, please contact Ms. Lekfy Mouna, the school nurse, at mlekfy@cas.ac.ma
Please make sure you read the letter that Mr. Randolph will be sending soon regarding unauthorized photographing and video taping.
Dean Nondorf, Vice President and Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid of the University of Chicago, visited only 2 schools in Morocco and CAS was one of them! The University of Chicago is a prestigious institution! Many tips and sound advice was shared with all of those who attended specifically about applying to highly selective universities. Our students and parents had many questions for Dean Nondorf who thoroughly addressed each question. We sincerely thank our College Counselor, Ms. Rana Haroun, for organizing this and all of the other events so far this year

We extend a very special thanks to Ms. Nawal El Moutawakel for the time she graciously spent at CAS last Monday. It was an honor to have Ms. El Moutawakil come again this year to support our Olympics IPC Unit. She is a great source of inspiration and she tied our LS theme this year to her speech! Our students were very happy to ask her so many questions!
Kudos to our wonderful Lower School PE teachers, Ms Fatiha and Ms Hala, for their wonderful organization and efforts!
It was a PINK evacuation Drill! All buildings were emptied in exactly 7 minutes. Students were in their best emergency behavior: no running, no talking and listening carefully.
More than 32 nationalities present at CAS came together on Wednesday, Oct 24th, to celebrate United Nations Day. To name just a few nationalities amongst us: United States, Korean, Chinese, Spanish, Moroccan, Portuguese, Indian, Canadian, Swiss, French, Egyptian, Bahraini, Tunisian, Lebanese, German, Columbian, Russian, British, Lithuanian and Slovakian families. CAS is a beautiful mosaic of different cultures, different nationalities and different beliefs that melt into one community all yearning for the same purposeful education.
Artwork inspired by... Our wonderful world!

Naznin Mojgani (Grade 6) interviewing one of CAS' long term but now retired workers, Mr. Bouabid Mejrade, about a considerable wood project. One of our former parents graciously donated bookshelves to the Upper School Library. To make the bookshelves fit better within the space we have in our Upper School Library, we asked Mr. Mejrade to cut them down as they were too wide.
Here is the interview led by Naznin:
“What’s your Name?”
“My Name is Bouabid Mejrade.”
“How long have you been working at this school?”
“I started working in, I think 1991 as a carpenter and I think I've worked in this school for 30 years.” Mr. Randolph hired me.
“What are you doing now?”
“I’m cutting these shelves into halves to move the other half to another place to keep space or I cut some of them into 32 cm out of 47 cm to make the empty places at the edges full or some place next to the wall full.”
“How many shelves have you made or cut?”
“I’ve cut 15 so far, I still need to work on 9 more shelves. And there were shelves too big so I took parts of them and I stacked the remaining.”
“Hmm… Interesting, How long have you been working on this project of yours?”
“1 month? No, no, no it’s been 3 weeks so far.”
“Was there someone working with you?”
“No, I worked by myself.”
“Thank you, for all of your hard work.”
“It’s no problem."

Hello CAS Cobras! For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Taylor Webb and I am one of the new music teachers at CAS. I am very passionate about music in all different mediums and I would love to offer my expertise in the genre of classical flute. I graduated from the University of Kansas in the U.S. this year with my undergraduate music education degree which included a flute emphasis. In school, I spent time working with professional musicians all around the world, and had the opportunity to become an expert on my primary instrument. I have taught several students of a wide variety of ages, and have done so for 8 years now. Now that I live in Casablanca, I would love to offer flute lessons to the students here at CAS. Please contact me if you are interested.
