Dear Parents;
As a school community, it is certainly our responsibility to be active and out front of any impending threat certainly a health emergency. The Coronavirus threat is unfolding in Wuhan and could be extremely significant in its reach and human impact around the world. We are an international school with families who travel the world over so we are even more concerned about the possible contamination of anyone who could remotely come into contact with this virus, especially since we are just now beginning to learn about its incubation period and its method of spreading from host to host.
During this crisis, our school nurse shall be keeping everyone up to date as frequently as possible on any local confirmed cases and the actions taken by the Moroccan Health authorities, but here at CAS we need to be vigilant with regard to those who appear to be sick and if they have possibly come into contact with anyone who has visited Wuhan or themselves come into contact with someone who has visited as the confirmed cases elsewhere in the world is growing. Therefore, our nurse will be in touch with the parents of any child who appears to be sick to ensure the safety of our community.
This Wednesday, February 5th, Dr. Farid Osman will be meeting and talking to students and raising awareness about the Corona Virus.
Please take care to ensure that your child washes their hands as frequently as possible and please notify our nurse should your child become sick so we may possibly rule out any contamination. Thank you for your consideration and support!
Kindly refer to the circulaire from the Moroccan Health ministry about the Corona Virus
It's confirmed. Ricky Arnold, NASA Astronaut and former CAS teacher, will be visiting us in March with his wife, Eloise. We are putting together a program so that students, Faculty and parents can meet Ricky. Ricky Arnold joined CAS in 1993 as the International Baccalaureate Biology and Environmental Science Teacher. His wife, Eloise, served as Grade 1 teacher. Both Ricky and Eloise spent 3 years at CAS before moving to Saudi Arabia, and then on to other countries. Ricky joined NASA in 2006. His first Space Walk outside the ISS occurred in 2009, followed by many many others. In total, Ricky spent more than 32 hours beyond the Earth's Appreciable Atmosphere (EVA). We are eager to welcome Ricky as an astronaut after welcoming him as a valuable teacher.

This weekend your CAS Cobras boys and girls varsity basketball teams competed in the MASAC tournament at AAC. The girls team competed bravely within a challenging group. They lost two games on the final possession and consistently gave high effort and energy to their matches.
The boys' varsity rolled through their group with a 3-0 record on Friday, beating GWA, ISM, and the American Cooperative School of Tunis. They used a smothering defense and aggressive offensive attacks of the basket to gain an advantage in all three games. On Saturday they beat AAC to advance to the championship and a rematch with ACST. Though the boys didn't come out as champions, the 2nd place finish was the best by a CAS varsity team in years. Also, I would like to thank our coaches for their efforts that they have put together to coach our cobras, thank you to all CAS parents for your support and presence. Having you all there boosted our young athletes' confidence to do their best
Congratulations to both teams for their dedication and teamwork they displayed during their seasons. They can be proud of themselves and look forward to even greater achievements in the future.
During Student Lead conferences on February 12, all students Pre-First - Grade 5 will be represented by one piece of artwork, hanging outside their base class room. We hope you take the time to see what other grades have been doing in LS Art and pass by all the bulletin boards in the Lower School.
Enjoy the Show,
Ms. Gi and Ms. Sekkat
