For those of you who have visited our campus, you might have seen our Wall of Graduates, an idea initiated by our student council in 2001. Every year, a new plaque is put on the wall, proudly inscribed with and commemorating the graduates of that year.
This is a particularly difficult and unusual year for seniors worldwide. As they lament the loss of year-end traditional rituals like dressing for prom and walking across the stage at graduation, they have decided to twist at least one tradition by creating the CAS « Virtual » Wall of Graduates. Seniors who chose to be featured on this page share their post graduate plans. It's only a goodbye...not a Farewell!!

Thank you Class of 2020 for once again taking the lead and inspiring your fellow classmates !

My interactions with our LS students have been just wonderful. As we plan for next year, I would like to inform our community that I will be initiating and teaching Biology classes to Grade 4 through grade 6 students. This decision is based on their enthusiasm, ability to grasp, understand and ask relevant questions about the Biological Concepts with which we have been working. Part of Science is inquiry, investigation, manipulating material and equipment, and so I'm eager to be part of their joyful curiosity as they lead their experiments next year.
As we prepare for the opening of school in September, we are regularly meeting with the CAS administrative team, following CDC guidelines, benchmarking with other educational institutions to propose the best measures that will keep us all safe and best serve our students, faculty, staff and community . These measures will be shared with parents when they are finalized.
On Sunday, May 31st, at 3:00 am, Morocco will switch to Day Light Savings Time. Clocks and devices will move one hour forward. Students and Teachers will adjust their E-Learning accordingly.
We would like to let our Community know that for the 2020-2021 school year, we shall be using the same school uniforms that we have used this year. We had hoped to change the uniform style and components, but COVID-19 has interfered with our plans. Next November, we shall follow up to complete meetings with the Student Council and the Uniform Committee that we have formed , and decide on fabric, designs and the colors we will be adopting for the following year. Please look for more info as we approach the end of year.
We have created a page on our What's Up Cobras entitled: Together We Can, which enlists all of our parents affiliations submitted so far. Please click HERE to access it. If you are interested in being part of it, please send us a small descriptive and the logo of your company by email. The purpose is to encourage parents to do business with one another taking into consideration their areas of expertise or business.

Besides the health impact, the financial devastation from Covid 19 will be felt around the world and is being compared to the Great Depression (1929-1933). In this regard, we must be alert to its impact right here in our community. Because we care for each CAS family and would like to help as much as we can, we encourage our parents to do business with one another taking into consideration their areas of expertise or business. For this purpose, we would like to create a database with CAS parents' affiliations that will be confidentially shared with our community, promoting products or services that can be of interest to some or to all. If you are interested and would like to be part of this, please send us a paragraph or two with your affiliation logo so that we may add it to our database.
Exams for the Upper School students will take place May 27th through June 5th. We ask that all students prepare for exams and turn in assessments as required by teachers. It has been a tedious task for teachers to teach online and their efforts can be only rewarded by serious work turned in and on time. This is the last line to cross. I thank all parents for their involvement in their children’s education that they get in these peculiar times.
The last week of school procedures will be emailed to parents ahead of time so that they can plan accordingly. This includes any material, that is school property.
I take this opportunity to congratulate all US faculty for leading and teaching our US students with resilience, patience and care. And I thank all the students for their attendance and for taking the E-Learning seriously.

Upper School Principal
Seniors - Sending results to University: As part of the services offered by IB, a maximum of six institutions worldwide can be selected (via the IB DP Coordinator) for free to send your IB results directly by IB, regardless of whether the results are to be sent in electronic or paper format. Of these six, no more than three institutions can be selected from Canada and the USA (of these three, only one for the USA). If you wish this service, please let me know before June 10th, 2020. For any additional request, you must submit it directly to IB via their public website at https://www.ibo.org/programmes/diploma-programme/assessment-and-exams/requesting-transcripts/.
Seniors - May 2020 examination: On July 6th at 1:00 PM seniors will be able to access their results via this website: https://candidates.ibo.org/. The required PIN and personal code will be provided by the IB Coordinator, via individual email, by next Wednesday.
Grade 10 students: The enrolment to IB files are now completed for all grade 10 students. Each student can access his/her file and see any update . For each course, the enrollment was approved or denied based on the teachers’ recommendations and students previous performance in the subject. Looking forward to starting working in September with our new IB DP group of students.

"Have you ever wondered if there are parallel realities? Or what the shape of our universe is? Or how stars produce the very elements that make up your body? Well students in Mr. Cherubim's IB Physics class do. Check out Mr. Cherubim's science blog, 'eta Earth,' featuring articles written by some of our graduating seniors at CAS in which they explore these ideas and many more. This week's post is from Oscar Basuyaux. Read on to find out 'why the universe is made of this stuff and not that stuff,' and how 'you and I are the products of supernovae.' Be sure to take a look at last week's post from Yann Bonzom on the oddities of quantum mechanics and more! All at https://www.etaearth.com/."
This lockdown period has been difficult for everyone, because we are all experimenting with something very unusual that happened in a very sudden way.
We have no access to the things that usually make us feel good; seeing friends and family, going outside, traveling, doing sports...we have no visibility on the future and there might be tensions within our families. There can be stress and anxiety and there is an impact on our physical health, but also on our psychological health and well being.
This ebook, designed for young people by Sourire de Reda in partnership with Honoris United Universities, is very easy to read. It helps understand this lockdown period and shares some strategies to navigate through it. There are 2 versions, one in French and one in English, which allows everyone to read it in the language with which they feel more comfortable.
It's with great sadness that we have received the passing of Ms. Roberta Strino Tronchi, mother of 2 CAS former students; Edoardo and Guilia. Ms. Tronchi battled cancer for years before she succumbed last week. Our sincere condolences to her husband Marco, and to her two children.
And since we are a community which cares beyond distances, here is a tribute from Shannon and John Greer, former CAS teachers, who share their expatriate life in Morocco:
"Always positive, upbeat, and welcoming, Roberta made this world a better place. We met when our daughters were in first grade at CAS. They shared many days swimming and playing as Roberta always welcomed Malea over after school. Many years later, we were fortunate to spend time at their home in Dubai. Even though years had gone by, we chatted away as if no time had passed.
With deep sadness, our thoughts and prayers go out to the whole family. May the light of your mother and wife always guide you and remind you of how much you were loved and to live life to its fullest.
With love,
Shannon, John, Malea, and Jordan Greer"

Our volunteers and partners are continuing to distribute crucial aid to our friends in the far reaches of the countryside. As they deliver baskets of food, our field staff and volunteers are taking every precaution to ensure that these gifts are made safely.
Here is just one example of the care taken as food was distributed in Midelt. Thank you to our partners at Siemens Gamesa and to your generosity for providing for the wellness and safety of our friends there!

Dear seniors,
At this time, all of you are starting to enroll in your universities. Remember that the universities will need 1. Your Final Transcript, and 2. Your IB Results.
Regarding your IB Results, Ms. Zamfirescu has sent you instructions on how to send these results to your universities. As for your final transcript, you must request it on BridgeU.
Steps:
1. Log in to BridgeU, go to "Universities," then "Applications."
2. Choose the university you are enrolling in:
For U.K. Universities: select 1. "Mark Sent" 2. "Conditional/Unconditional" and 3. "Firm Acceptance/Insurance Acceptance"
For all other Universities: select 1. "Mark Sent" 2. "Accepted," and 3. "Attending."
3. By completing the previous step, I will know which university to send your final transcript to.
Please also update the admissions results for the universities you will not be enrolling in.
Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, admissions for 2020/21 have actively continued at CAS since the beginning of this year. It is our pleasure to inform our community that many prospective students have applied to CAS and that some have been accepted after tests or observations have been conducted. If you know of relatives, friends or other interested families who would like to attend our institution, please contact, Ms. Samira Peters, at the Admissions Office at: speters@cas.ac.ma
