Thanks go out to all the Alumni who came yesterday morning to pay tribute to Dima Kassis (class of '00), whom we suddenly lost. It was an emotional moment, filled with shared memories, tears, laughers, and anecdotes.
We also thank all of the Lower School children who passed by in silence on their way to classes in the Upper School building during the gathering of Alumni.
Your cooperation is an important part of the efforts to completely control the spread of head lice in our school.
Every year schools face the problem of head lice. This week we have discovered some students with head lice. So we would like to share the following information with you.
Head lice are not considered a health problem because it is not a transmitter of communicable disease. However, head lice multiply quickly and can spread from person to person, easily. It is not associated with hygiene; anyone can get lice. Therefore, to prevent its spread, we request that you be alert for head lice. Watch for persistent itching and scratching of the scalp especially nape of the neck and around the ears and examine your child’s head.
Check: Check your child’s hair regularly-once a week is a good guide.
Treat: If you find live lice or unhatched eggs on hair shafts, treat your child immediately to minimize the risk of infestation and passing them to other family members. information regarding treatment can be obtained from your pharmacist or family doctor.
Inform: Please let the school know when your child has lice or nits.
Encouraging children to keep their hats and scarves inside coat pockets & sleeves.
Discouraging children from sharing combs, brushes, hats, scarves or hair accessories.
Tying long hair in ponytails or braids.
Vacuum clean carpets and sofa cushions really well, bed sheets, caps, pillows and stuffed animals need to be washed at 65 degrees F or 18 degrees C.
To accommodate all of our parents and to ease the impact of circulation at the beginning and the end of the school day, we opened the back gate to utilize the land behind the school as a parking lot and drop off/pick up place for many years now. Unfortunately, as of this week, part of this area has become a huge construction site and the picture hereafter speaks for itself. While, we recognize our responsibility to protect and safeguard the safety of our students, there are certain actions that remain beyond our control, such as the traffic of big trucks and construction equipment. From our side, we will monitor the traffic and we count on each one of you to follow the rules, and instruct your drivers and nannies to do the same. Do let us know if you have any issues with parking or dropping off/picking up of your child/ren.
We have explained in length bullying and the ZERO TOLERANCE position the school is assuming this academic year 2019-2020.
We take the issue of Bullying and intimidation very seriously and we will keep tirelessly monitoring and observing student interactions to make sure that no bullying of any kind is perpetrated upon our students.
The consequences are serious and can involve expulsion from the school.
