Many thanks to the PTC and to all the parent and student volunteers for another successful event on Saturday. Our BBQ showed again the CAS Community Spirit. It was a time for chatting, getting to know each other and sharing fantastic games and delicious food.
Thank you again and, as usual, look out for the upcoming events, especially Spooky Halloween.
Final year can be tough and hectic for seniors; preparations for IB Exams, College applications and meeting many other deadlines. Therefore, we have always advocated for a lounge where our seniors can chill out, relax and spend their last months together before they graduate and are off to university. With the help of our Student Council and the generous support of our PTC, we have converted the old PTA storage into a senior hangout, with a rocking chair, comfy sofas, and tables. Our seniors are already leaving their legacy there.
In our last edition, we have informed our CAS community about seasonal flu vaccines that the CAS Health Department is organizing this fall. We are happy to announce that there is a big interest in this initiative and that the Nurse's Office has started receiving permission slips.
As a reminder, the price for the flu vaccine per person is 240 Dh, including the vaccine fee and the medical fees. All payments should be made directly to the Accounts' Office.
This past week our wonderfully talented, curious and vibrant CAS theatre students took part in a journey of discovery and collaboration in London for the ISTA organized TaPS workshops. Over 3 days our IB and US theatre students worked alongside other internationally minded and culturally diverse students, artists and teachers in sharing and creating empowering learning experiences.
Our students participated in a sweat breaking workshop with international theatre company, Gecko, learned Bazi Gong martial arts tricks with Jo Riley expert in Chinese Beijing theatre and they also saw two wonderful live theatre performances. They not only made new friends while at the TaPS workshops, but our students solidified their own friendship, looking out for one another and demonstrating to us, their chaperones, and to all other participants what the CAS community spirit is all about!
I am ever so proud of them and hope more students join us next year!
Hello, everyone! Dr. Linda Blanton, here. I’ve spent the past two wonderful weeks visiting Lower School classes and talking to teachers & students. My main interests are English language and literacy development, and I’ve seen excellent classes of students busy at work, reading, writing and speaking English, as they are mentored by caring adults. Thank you, CAS, for the chance to spend time with you!
Dr. Blanton wrapped up her two week visit to access our English as a Second Language program in Lower School with a session involving the entire Lower School instructional staff in the Lower School Science-Technology Laboratory. As you recall in our previous message, Dr. Blanton worked at CAS in 1987 and started our ESL Department. She has returned several times to CAS to continue her work with our faculty and to monitor the progress of our ESL program and the changes to our student body and their English language learning needs.
Dr. Blanton will be providing us with a report and recommendations in due course. Meanwhile, I would like to take this opportunity to warmly thank her for coming once again to CAS to assist us with instructional strategies for our second language learners.

Today, we had the pleasure to welcome one of our own, Hatim Belyamani, who graduated in 1996 and went to Harvard with a scholarship. Hatim had a successful career at Apple being part of the leading team that developed and launched iCloud.
Hatim' s musical talents are beyond amazing. He decided to follow through with his passion in music and launched his Remix Culture project beaming traditional musicians from the four corners of the world onto a big screen, and shaping them harmoniously into new electro beats. Check this out for yourself by clicking on Remix Culture.
For those interested in attending one of his concerts, starting next week, he will be performing in Chefchaouen all throughout the month of October.
We are always very proud of our students whenever they succeed!
Rayane Oudghiri, who is in our Grade 9 class, has accomplished numerous victories this past summer. He ranked 1st in Tetouan, 2nd in Temara FEI Challenge, and 3rd in a German competition.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month worldwide. It definitely means different things to different people. In the US, 1 in 8 women develop cancer over the course of their lifetime. In Morocco, breast cancer ranks first in female cancers.
In 2003, our former parent, principal and director Mrs Anne Osman succumbed after years of battling breast cancer.
We aim to raise awareness this month! Keep your eye out for various events lead by students this month.
