We want to express our thanks to all of the parents, staff and students who came to the Moroccan Salon on Thursday, September 12th, to present their condolences to Ms. Hervet during the service CAS organized for the loss of her husband. The support illustrated by all really meant a lot to Ms. Hervet and she extends her gratefulness to all. If you still wish to present your condolences to Ms. Hervet, please email her at: ehervet@cas.ac.ma
On behalf of CAS Community, I would like to thank again the PTC members for organizing the New Parent Breakfast. Support and involvement in organizing events like these make CAS a stronger community. More from the PTC will be shared soon.
Influenza or the flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. It is a serious threat to public health and can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death. CAS community experienced a lot of absenteeism during last year’s Flu/H1N1 outbreak. All individuals aged 6 months and older are recommended for annual vaccination as per the World Health Organization.
In this regard, the CAS Health Department is planning to organize clinical services this fall at school for staff and students alike. We will set up a clinic on the school grounds and flu vaccine (Intramuscular Injection of Inactivated Flu Virus) will be administered by experienced and licensed doctors and school nurses. In order for students to be vaccinated, parents will be required to sign a consent form soon to be sent by the school nurse, and return it to the school by the due date. The price for the flu vaccine per person is 240 Dh, including the vaccine fee and the medical fees.
In the Director’s message of August 28th, we have explained in length bullying and the ZERO TOLERANCE position the school will assume beginning this academic year 2019-2020. At CAS we take the issue of Bullying and intimidation very seriously and we will keep tirelessly monitoring and observing student interactions to make sure that our students are in compliance.
The LS Students have been taking their MAP tests (Measures of Academic Progress) this week and MAP testing for students in grades 7-10 will begin next week:
It is important that students attend school on these days. Please ensure that your child arrives at school early in order to be ready when testing begins. They should also have a good night's sleep.
If a student arrives late, does not complete the day's test in time, receives an Invalid Result (by clicking through the questions too quickly) or is asked to stop due to behavioral issues, they will be required to attend school on Saturday, September 28, to complete the test.
· MAP is used in over 1,000 international schools from 145 countries. This allows us to look at how students at CAS compare to students in the U.S. and around the world.
· The results help guide instruction based on students' strengths and weaknesses.
CAS Students WILL:
· Take this test seriously, show his/her best effort and use time wisely.
· Respect and follow all directions, and work quietly.
Wednesday September 25th
This coming Wednesday Sept 25th, CAS College counseling office is hosting a University Fair. Choosing the most appropriate college or university is one of the most crucial decisions an 18th year old student can make because that entitles purposeful education, career services, and unique opportunities for lifelong experiences and relationships, not to forget that parents will gain good return on their investment. This process can be tedious and overwhelming at times for both parents and students. In this regard, our college counseling office is here to assist and we strongly encourage parents of 10th through 12th Grade students to attend, not only this fair, but any upcoming fair Ms. Rana Haroun the college counselor organizes.
Three of our seniors, Yann Bonzom, Leith Bouacida and Hyun Chang Kweon would like to lead an extremely important Project in the next coming months: the banning of plastic bottles from CAS. Their ideas indicate enthusiasm, leadership, and awareness. We are seriously studying the project and we will provide more details soon.
Dr. Linda Blanton, who is responsible for establishing the ESL Department at CAS in 1987 is coming and will be here from September 23rd through October 3rd to work with our ESL department.
We take this opportunity to congratulate Dr. Blanton for the publication of her book: VARIED VOICES on Language and Literacy Learning. The book is about her work at CAS and contains many interesting anecdotes about CAS students, CAS teachers and about Morocco in General.
A copy of Linda’s book is currently available in our Upper School Library or CLICK on the link below:

Established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations resolution, Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to Peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace”.
Feedback about the LS and US Back-To-School Night was constructive. Parents had the opportunity to meet their child’s/ren’s teachers and learn more about the Lower and Upper School curriculums. We encourage all of you to keep providing us with your feedback. We can never get enough…
New Parents were greeted over a wonderful breakfast on our rooftop on Tuesday Sept 12th at CAS. A big thank you to our parent buddies, staff members and parents for joining us and making this event a great success!
