Next week:
Since we have altered our school calendar, please note that school will be in session, Monday, October 18th, Thursday, October 21st and Friday, October 22nd. In Celebration of Eid Al Mawlid, the school will be closed Tuesday, October 19th and Wednesday, October 20th. We take this opportunity to wish our Muslim community happy holidays.
Uniform Update
We have been informed by our Uniform Supplier that most parents ordered and received their child’s/ren's uniform Thank you for your collaboration in this matter. Our students look wonderful in their new attire! The Uniform supplier will be at school this Monday, October 18th from 8:30 to 10:30 for more deliveries, exchanges, and any additional orders.
Vaccine Pass:
Some parents are still encountering some issues with the vaccine pass. Hopefully, by next week, the problem will be resolved as the Ain Chock delegation has some problems with their IT system. When you print your child’s vaccine pass, please make sure you check the date of birth, the name and the gender.
On a different note, thanks to the preventive measures we are all taking, there was only one positive case during the last Antigenic Drive-Through test that we organized on Friday, September 30th. The next antigenic tests will be held at school so as not to take from the instructional time.
Condolences to: Mrs. Nezha Benyahya (mother of Mehdi Mekouar in Grade 6) for the loss of her father. Our thoughts are with the Benyahya Family.
Sincerely,
John Randolph
School Director

We have jumped right back into the swing of thighs here in the Lower School!
We have wrapped up MAP testing (parent info coming soon) and have begun Fountas & Pinnell literacy assessments. Both of these assessments are critical to gauge where your child is at in their learning, the progress they are making, and informs teachers to make instructional decisions to best educate our young scholars.
Wednesday was the second event hosted by the Family Outreach Committee. Navigating Our Online World was a very relevant and necessary session with information for parents of children of all ages. Please see my email (sent October 15) for the session recording, pdf of the presentation, Warning Signs handout, and the post-event survey. We had over 75 in attendance and hope to see more in upcoming events.
As the parent email says, the committee will be hosting many more events to support you as a parent and our partnership!
Elizabeth Phillips
Congratulations to the Lower School's Family Outreach Committee for organizing a successful second virtual even on: Navigating Our Online World. The session shared how you, as a parent, can better support your child online and included topics such as screen time, internet safety, cyber bullying, and common social media sites. The timing of the virtual event aligns with the first ProtectEd domain, Internet Safety, being addressed beginning this week.

The IB has invited its schools to display their work, creativity, and talent by showcasing students' or schools' projects and performances at the IB Virtual Conference that will be held from October 18th-22nd, 2021. The IB received more than 40 applications and only 18 schools were selected. We are proud to announce that our students' Blood Drive Project from last year was selected! Congratulations to our current seniors Dany Kanaan, Neyl Chaoui and Samy Guessous for leading such a well organized project and even more so during the pandemic. That goes a long way in showing our student's level ! Way to go Cobras!
For those less familiar with the project, the 2021 C.A.S Blood Drive aimed to help increase blood reserves at the National Blood Transfusion Center (CRTS), which in non-COVID-19 times, is very limited. Moreover, due to the three-month lockdown in Morocco and the continued state of emergency imposed by the government, the blood banks reached an unprecedented low supply level. Therefore, the leading team worked closely with CRTS to define the needs and regulations to transform the school gym into a donor center while respecting covid sanitary mitigation measures; filed for special authorizations with the Moroccan authorities to overcome all the restrictions imposed by the government during such sanitary crisis; created a digital sign up form to ensure we would meet the minimum quota required by CRTS; raised awareness through a digital campaign on the school's social media platforms aimed to encourage community members to sign up for donation, emphasizing the urgency of the situation all while warranting a covid friendly environment. COVID-19 has ravaged many people's lives in various ways, and knowing how vital it was for the medical teams to increase blood supplies, we had to take action. Despite the current pandemic, restrictions, and general fear from the population to gather, we were proud to have been able to lead a successful campaign that raised awareness, inspiring more fellow community members to serve their civic duty and providing CRTS with the blood supply that would save more than 180 individuals throughout the nation.
US Library News
Dear Parents and Students, we would like to inform you that students will no longer be able to Print assignments at school and specifically at the US Library. Every family should have a personal printer at home that is available to their children when printing homework/assignments. The only exception to this new rule is if a teacher has sent a specific student to the Library to print (providing a note from the teacher), and that is also limited to 5 pages per student per day. On behalf of the Upper School Library we thank you for your understanding.
Kajan Raouf
US Librarian
The Cas Libraries would like to announce that in addition to the newly printed books that we received this year, we have the online database TumbleBooks subscription. You can access it from HERE .
Should you have any questions or difficulties login in , kindly contact Ms Daifi , E-mail : bdaifi@cas.ac.ma
eBooks for eKids
TumbleBooks are animated, talking picture books that teach kids the joy of reading in a format they’ll love. They are created by taking existing picture books, adding animation, sounds, music, and narration to produce an electronic picture book (and some classics) which you can read, or have read to you. The language drop-down menu allows you to view the site in French and Spanish, instead of English.
TumbleBooks has a lot in store for you this month! We start off with music and with the joy of balloons, but we end the month with some of our spooky Halloween favorites, and one sassy kitty!
October is also a time to appreciate teachers (on the 5th), overcome your fears (the 8th), and celebrate what makes you special (every day! - but specifically the 10th).

Vaccination Requirement
WE require proof of full COVID-19 vaccination for any students’ athletes participating in winter and spring sports and for all out-of-season practices for the 2021-22 academic school year.
Students who are unvaccinated will not be able to participate in team activities
We are proud of the progress our campus community has made. About 99% of CAS faculty and staff have been vaccinated and a large percentage of students’ athletes have already confirmed full vaccination. Both basketball and soccer teams are all at 100 percent vaccination amongst players
Students’ athletes, who have been fully vaccinated are able to return to normal on-campus after school activities, the soccer and basketball teams began the season with a strong team effort, and with solid individual performances
The safety of every member of the campus is the CAS’s highest priority. We continue to urge all members of the community to follow all safety and health protocols

Dear Community members,
We would like to thank all of our community members who have been actively participating in the PTC by managing to bring support and fun into our school in spite of the challenges due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The PTC elections were postponed due to the school's emergency closure in September. We are happy to announce that these will be held on Wednesday November 3rd at drop off at the Moroccan Salon.
As indicated in its mission statement, the PTC is “committed to enhancing, enriching, promoting and supporting the education of our children and fostering a sense of community within our school". In order to achieve this mission, a strong collaboration between parents, teachers, and the school administration is needed.
In the past, the PTC has been in charge of creating multiple events such as: the New Parents Welcome Breakfast, the annual Back to School Barbecue, the Halloween Celebration, the various Christmas events for students and teachers alike, the teachers appreciation events, the Spring Fair, the end of the year Music Fun Day and so forth.
We hope to see many more volunteers ....to continue creating uplifting and building fun events for our community!
Parent volunteers of the PTC cannot function effectively without the assistance of teachers and admin staff as key members of the committee so we encourage them to join too!
If you are interested in joining and giving a helping hand, it is important that you attend this meeting! Please email (ptc@cas.ac.ma) us to indicate your attendance so we can plan a Covid friendly space accordingly.
Thank you for your time, interest and support,
PTC Team
Over the past two years, the world has been adjusting to Covid and the PTC has continuously thought of safe alternative ways for organizing events for our community members. Halloween is around the corner and the team is working on putting together a small celebration that will happen during the school day on Friday October 29th. Classes will not be disrupted however the PTC aims to bring some fun and thrill to the community on that day!
Students will be expected to wear costumes and a school wide competition (PF-Gr 12) will be organized. The costume competition theme: Who can create a Halloween costume out of their OLD CAS UNIFORM? The PTC is calling all of your creativity and can't wait to see what you come up with! For those who do NOT have OLD CAS uniforms, we invite you to check out the lost and found:)
More details will be communicated soon so please stay TUNED!
Dear Community,
That time of the year for taking our class pictures has come! Yearbook pictures will be held from Monday November 1st to Thursday November 4th, 2021. Your child's foto day will be communicated to you once the schedule is published.
Please Note that ALL students are expected to wear their WHITE CAS DRESS SHIRT and cardigan. So we ask all parents to make sure that they have picked up their orders from the uniform supplier.
We count on your support.
The Yearbook Committee Team
Over the past two years, CAS goes pink during the month of October in support of the worldwide breast cancer movement: Pinktober. Our students have continued to show support through various initiatives from fundraising to raising awareness-but more importantly being active supporters in the wellbeing of current cancer fighters and survivors. It has warmed our hears to see that Sabrine Benzakour and Hiba El Hansali (Class of 2021), who have led the project for the past two years, not only continue to show support to les Amis du Ruban Rose after they have finished their CAS IB project AND graduated but also encourage current juniors to join the action! Some of students are currently working on a few initiatives that will be communicated VERY SOON
More is yet to come during this month of October, so STAY TUNED!!
