TESDA IX strengthens Industry-based training program with Net Menders graduation

TESDA IX, in coordination with Mega Fishing Corporation (MFC) and Naval Forces Western Mindanao, recently concluded its industry-based training program on Net Mending last June 27, 2015 at MFC Conference Room. Present for the occasion were TESDA IX Regional Director Lorenzo G. Macapili, MFC Business Unit Head Trifon Macarayan, MFC Net Mending Supervisor Rene Salon and Naval Forces Western Mindanao Cpt. Felix Casingcasing III and his staff.

The 15-day training program was held at MFC’s net mending facility in Cawit, Zamboanga City. The training was administered by MFC Net Mending Supervisor Rene Salon.

The 30 participants in the training program were selected by the Mega Fishing Corporation and Naval Forces Western Mindanao while TESDA IX provided the training design. After the training the participants are absorbed in the MFC as net menders.

The aim of TESDA’s industry-based training is to accomplish convergence between Industry sector and Government where prospective and contractual workers are trained in technical-vocational skills to enhance the worker’s skills and provide better service for the Industry.
