TESDA IX in partnership with MEGA Fishing Corporation and the Philippine Naval Forces Western Mindanao conducted an opening program for training on Net Mending last June 8, 2015 at the Mega Fishing Conference Room.

Present for the opening program were TESDA IX Regional Director Lorenzo G. Macapili, Mega Fishing Business Unit Head Trifon Macarayan, Captain Felix B. Casingcasing, Net Mending Supervisor Rene Salon and Mega Fishing CEO/President William Lim.

The training program will be given to selected unemployed male and female residents from Labuan, Cawit and Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay. The skills training will last for fifteen days after which the trainees will be hired by Mega Fishing Corporation as part of their job description for net menders.

As part of its commitment to provide industry-based programs which are unavailable in schools and TVIs, TESDA IX will provide the Training Design and Assessment for the training program while Mega Fishing Corp. and the Philippine Naval Forces will provide the recruitment of trainees as Mega Fishing needs fifty more.

“This is the best way to conduct training such as this in the industry because they have the resources and as part of their obligation of Corporate Social Responsibility.” “Furthermore this training will result in 100% employment for the residents in the area,” RD Macapili said.
