TESDA IX kicks-off Anniversary Celebration with Drug Awareness Symposium

TESDA IX holds Drug Awareness Symposium for RTC trainees

A total of 182 trainees at the Regional Training Center (RTC) in Zamboanga City attended the Drug Awareness Symposium conducted by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Regional Office 9 (PDEA-9) at the RTC Conference Room on August 18, 2016.

This activity is designed to educate the trainees on drugs and drug abuse. Ms. Darmalyn H. Jumlail, Information Officer III of PDEA discussed the following topics: Drug and Its Origin; Classifications of Drugs; Immediate and long term adverse effects of drugs on the body; Reasons why people turn to drugs; and, Common Signs of Drug Abuse. The trainees were also given the chance to participate and respond about drug awareness and be able to give their thoughts and opinions before the end of the Program.

The Regional Office included this activity as part of its 22nd Anniversary Celebration in support to the current administration’s campaign against illegal drugs. The PDEA, the lead agency in the fight against illegal drugs, was tapped to conduct the symposium.
