TESDA IX hosts Labor Management Cooperation Convergence Program

TESDA IX, in coordination with the Department of Labor and Employment Region 9, hosted the Launching of LMC Convergence Program and RCC Meeting with Managers in Fishing and Canning Industries last February 24, 2015 at the LM Metro Hotel, Tetuan Zamboanga City.

With the aim of achieving industrial peace and a harmonious relationship between management and labor and addressing the canning, fishing and other industries’ corporate social responsibility, DOLE Regional Director Sisinio B. Cano provided highlights on the guidelines and concept of the LMC convergence of programs. In his opening remarks he discussed, “Labor-Management Cooperation/Council (LMC) Convergence of Programs, or simply Convergence, means that all plant-level DOLE programs and services shall be delivered through one plant-level structure… Programs on productivity, occupational safety and health, family welfare, grievance and most importantly, the plant-level bipartite compliance committee mandated to conduct joint assessment and OSH investigation under the DOLE Labor Laws Compliance System (LLCS), shall be converged to address decent work deficits, foster harmonious labor-management relationships and industrial peace, and increase productivity and competitiveness of enterprises.

Meanwhile TESDA IX Regional Director Lorenzo G. Macapili provided the agenda brief on the subject matter of Industry-Based Training and Certification Program. In his power point presentation RD Macapili discussed that “TESDA IX recognizes the importance of having a relevant workforce equipped with market-relevant skills hence the program offerings and training schemes implemented by the partner-institutions are geared towards meeting the skilled manpower of the industry. To ensure that TESD programs meet industry needs, it is imperative for TESDA to forge partnerships with various industries so as to get a close feel of the pulse of the ever-changing technology and economic landscape.”
