Regional Skills Competition a complete success

The best of Region IX converged at the Dipolog School of Fisheries, Olingan, Dipolog City for the Zamboanga Peninsula Regional Skills Competition last December 10-11, 2015.

With the theme “Skills: your way to success,” the event was a showcase for technical-vocational education and skills development.

A mass was celebrated during the first day, officiated by Fr. Nathaniel A. Denlaoso, followed by a motorcade from Plaza Magsaysay to the Dipolog School of Fisheries.

Present for the occasion were TESDA IX Regional Director Lorenzo G. Macapili, TESDA Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Director Nilda C. Espiritusanto, TESDA Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Director Eulalio B. Lumactod, TESDA Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Director L. Emanuel L. Guillermo, ROD Chief Alan T. Bacatan, RTC Caretaker Geronimo A. Bandico and other personnel and staff from Region IX.

Also present were representatives from the Local Government Units of Zamboanga del Norte.

The chosen qualification for the event include: Restaurant Services (RS), Refrigeration and Air-conditioning (RAC), Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW).

The participants in the skills competition were chosen from the different provinces of Region IX to include Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga del Sur and Zamboanga del Norte.

The following are the winning contestants:

JOSEPH MARK C. GEOLIN – Shielded Metal Arc Welding;

JOHN LOUIE S. PIOQUINTO – Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning;

JOVEN L. SEGOVIA – Electrical Installation and Maintenance;

GLEE MAR H. JUMANGIT – Restaurant Services.
