TESDA IX attends Regional Competitiveness Committee Meeting

The Regional Competitiveness Committee, chaired by DTI-IX Regional Director Sitti Amina M. Jain, Ph.D., held its RCC Meeting last February 23, 2015 at the DTI-IX Conference Room, Veterans Avenue, Zamboanga City. TESDA IX, represented by Regional Director Lorenzo G. Macapili and with its role as the primary collaborator with the labor and employment and education sectors as well as the being the authority in technical education and skills development, was invited to form part of the RCC’s Technical Working Group (TWG) to oversee the overall implementation of 2015 Cities, Municipalities, Competitiveness Index (CMCI). The other member-agencies in the TWG include: DepEd, DOT, DILG, DOLE, NEDA and PSA. The committee extensively discussed updates on the 2015 CMCI, particularly the list of indicators which are consolidated in three classifications: Economic Dynamism, Government Efficiency and Infrastructure. The committee also discussed the different laws helping small businesses to become part of mainstream industry and commerce. The committee then discussed the list of LGU’s included for the CMCI, agreeing on a resolution addressed to the City Government asking it to fast track the Master Development Plan and the schedule of activities.

The Regional Competitiveness Committee is composed of the different sectors of government, business and the academe to include: BSP, WMSU, PNP PRO-9, PPA-PMO, PSA, CAAP, ADZU, UZ, DOLE, DILG, BPLO, PCCI, DOST, DOH Zamboanga Chamber, ZCWD and UMD INVST.
