A caring and loving heart poured out to our Indigenous Peoples and Muslim Filipinos in Zamboanga Peninsula and the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

TESDA Secretary Guiling “Gene” A. Mamondiong lead the Forum for Leaders of Indigenous Peoples and Muslim Filipinos in Zamboanga Peninsula and the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao in coordination with TESDA IX, TESDA ARMM, National Commission on Muslim Filipinos, National Commission on Indigenous Peoples and the Department of the Interior and Local Government on February 19, 2018 in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur.

“Ibibigay sa inyo ang dapat na ibibigay sa inyo”, Sec. Manondiong’s promise which was heavily applauded by the leaders and members of the indigenous peoples (IPs) and muslim Filipinos present during the forum. Some points stressed by Sec. Mamondiong infront of about 450 participants are establishing training centers right in the communities, free training, free food and accommodation and the provision of scholarships.

TESDA’s heart reaches out to our IP brother and sisters because most of the time they are the ones not being able to go to higher education due to financial constraints. Hence, TESDA addresses the gap for these IPs to be able to immerse in the world of work by equipping them with skills that the industries need. Decent jobs are not only for the people in the mainland but everybody must have equal opportunity to earn and live a decent life.

Mindanaoan people must take advantage to the development programs for IPs since our President, Rodrigo Roa Duterte who hailed from Mindanao and also has an indigenous people’s blood running through his veins poured out billions of pesos of priority programs and projects to uplift the quality of life of his constituents. Secretary Mamondiong expressed empathy to the IPs as a whole for he himself is one of them.
