This unit explores the features of the oceans and the forces and evidence of changing oceans through time. Oceans are constantly changing, with the oldest current seafloor only existing for a brief fraction of the earth's history. A broader understanding of bathymetric patterns and island variations will be developed. Students will build their understanding of our modern oceans and the evidence of past oceans through investigation of the theory of plate tectonics, as well as principles of the rock cycle and geologic change.
