SOL 3 - Cell Structure and Function

Unit Summary: This unit focuses on life at the "cellular level." Students will chronicle the critical developments in technology and investigation that have led to our modern understanding of cells as the functional unit of life. A fundamental division in the classification of life is based on the presence of a nucleus, so students will examine how the presence of this organelle has a greater impact on the overall construction and functions of that cell. Finally, students will look at the limitations of cellular life and how they cope with such pressures through division or other methods.
