COURSE DESCRIPTION –

Drones (Small Uncrewed Autonomous Systems/sUAS) are a rapidly expanding innovative technology with almost limitless applications. Learn the foundations, regulations and best practices for the proper safe operation of these machines. Students will get an introduction to drones and their use for scientific, commercial, public safety and recreational applications.

  • Drone safety, flight and operations.

  • FAA regulations (rules, airspace, etc.)

  • Meteorology- weather and flight

  • Foundations of GPS and GIS

  • Data and imagery collection and analysis

  • Drones: applications and careers


COURSE GOALS

The students will understand and apply the principles of drone safety, flight operations and follow the regulations of drone flight.


The students will use drones to collect data and imagery.


Students will apply analytical tools (including Geographic Information Systems) in the collection and evaluation of data from a variety of sources and for a variety of applications.
