Lesson: Joints

What are the possibilities and limitations that arise when two bones come together?

In this lesson the students will examine the three major categories of joints. Joints with full movement will be further classified into one of the six types of motions.

Notes - Joints

Diagram - Joint Capsule (with joint presentation)- students copy and annotate a diagram illustrating the "typical diarthrotic joint." This diagram expands on concepts first introduced in the Membrane lesson in chapter 6.

Activity - WS - Identifying Joint Type - students apply their growing knowledge of skeletal anatomy to determine the types of joint that occur when given a pair of bones.
