Unit Plan: How has the presence of such a large amount of liquid surface water shaped the Earth through time?
This unit examines the impact of earth's water, specifically its ocean water. 97% of the water is salt water. It covers 70% of the earth's surface. It is a complex chemical environment with unique properties that is in constant motion. It stores and transfers heat and interacts with shorelines and the atmosphere. Hidden from view, it has a diverse geography with many distinct features found at the seafloor. Students will gain an understanding of all of these facets.
