Lesson: Digestive System Basics

What are the basic structures and functions of the digestive system?

This lesson picks up where the introduction in chapter 4 stopped. It is a basic overview of the digestive organs and their basic processes. Subsequent lessons will examine each area of the system in more detail in regards to specific anatomical, physiological and pathological considerations.

A Big Meal - review the basics of biochemistry and balanced diet as well as concepts of digestion, absorption

Notes - Intro to Digestive System - overview of digestive system and break down into GI/Alimentary and the accessory organs

Diagram - Digestive Organs (textbook) - students annotate a numbered diagram of digestive organs to build vocabulary and familiarity with general anatomy and location within the body.
