Kumaon Hi-Altitude Villages Trek (K-Trek)
A 10-day, 100+ KM trek to some high-altitude Villages of Eastern Kumaon. Route: Loharkhet - Dhakuri - Khati - Mikila - Kimu - Namik - Thal~Kharik - Chupoo~Pass and finally the trail ending on the road to Munsiary (32KM), between Bala & Birthi Falls

12:30PM - we asked this shepard for water stream to stop for lunch
21st Dec 2008 Day-9 : Namik to Thal~Kharik 12KM - 3150M
At dawn the skies were more or less clear and but some clouds were hovering around on the horizon. We decided to push on to Thal Kharik, even as some locals said it could snow during the day! We had breakfast and Debu 'hired' a local man, Narendra Singh, to carry extra blankets & mattresses (for tonights stay) and share the loads for the steep climb to Thal-Kharik today. Narendra was a local here and knew the route from around Namik to Bogdiar and Milam like the back of his hand. He would take us to the shepard's hut for the night and then come back next day.
After climbing 1 hour we reached this Kharik on a level ground ... from here we could see Gogina village on opposite valley (to left).
Around 2-30PM we reached this barren rocky altitude of 3150M - the Kharik hut was ahead, in a depression, below those trees in the above pic center

At 2-50PM we reached the Thal-Kharik (Shepard's Hut) - where we planned to stay this night
