76 Harsil Uttarkashi Treks

Day-treks from Uttarkashi and Harsil in the Gangotri area of Uttarakhand, India

Background, Trek Summary, Pictures and Videos of the these Treks:

On the Gartang Gali trek staircase (at Lanka Bridge near Harsil, Gangotri) I met a gentleman from Nainital (who was also 74 years old, like me) and his wife!

Background

It was nearly 5 years since I did any treks with my old trekking friend Sadanand Kamath (SK), So when in late summer of 2022, he suggested a 1 week trip to Uttarkashi for short day-treks from Uttarkashi and Harsil (in Gangotri area), I readily agreed.

SK did all the planning and bookings for our Homestays in Uttarkashi (at Eagle's Nest homestay of our mutual friend Tilak Soni ) and at Sundar Homestay at Harsil. We left from Mumbai by flight on 8th Oct 2022 to Dehradun and returned back on 15th October, See detailed itinerary in footer below.

The beautiful front garden of our "Sundar Homestay" at Harsil . . . . it was overflowing with flowers and apples! A great place to stay.
